War Map

Re-dated the roadmap's no-release-window note to the end of the first Steam playtest
The War Map is the centerpiece of the war system the EVILBANE team plans to build after its first Steam playtest. It was described in a developer note from the game's producer published on October 15, 2026, during that test. None of it was in the playtest itself; the note says the content will be added gradually over future development and that details, names, and translations may change.
In the playtest, operations stand on their own. In the planned version, every operation becomes part of a larger war. The operations players complete reshape the world map: together, players reclaim lost land, while land they fail to defend is seized again and turned back into a battlefield. As the producer put it, "It's a world where today's defeat becomes tomorrow's crisis."
The War Map sits in the command room of Base Camp, the survivors' last stronghold, and shows the state of the war across the Middle Realm at a glance. It covers two continents, ten regions, and forty-six territories, and every territory is in one of three states.

State | Meaning |
|---|---|
Battlefront | A territory where the Resistance is currently fighting the enemy |
Liberated Territory | A territory the Resistance has reclaimed and is holding |
Enemy Territory | A territory still under enemy control |
The war is planned to run in Seasons, each covering one major event, with Chapters that unfold that event step by step. Every player's operations push the front line forward and add up to a shared victory that reclaims territory. The enemy does not sit still: it invades held territories, and any land the players fail to defend falls back into enemy hands. Once the front line has been pushed far enough, the colossal being that rules that region reveals itself.

Reward | What Is Planned |
|---|---|
Blessings of Reclaimed Regions | Once every territory in a region is reclaimed, all players get that region's own blessing, special Heavenstones found only there, and specialty goods from Wandering Merchants who visit Base Camp. Some of these can be lost if the region's territories fall again. |
War Chronicles | The results of every Season and Chapter are recorded in the Hall of Records at Base Camp, along with the names of each Season's top contributors. |
Season Medals and Titles | Merits earned over a Season are tallied when it ends and kept as Medals and Titles. |
The producer laid out the order in which the war layer is meant to arrive:
Order | Stage | Focus |
|---|---|---|
1 | Stronger Combat and Progression | Gameplay improvements based on playtest feedback, and preparations for the first Season |
2 | The War Map Comes to Life | Chapters, Base Camp briefings, and territory battles |
3 | The War Cycle Begins | The start and end of Seasons, invasion defense, and challenges |
4 | Earning Merit Together | Season achievements and rewards |
Across all four stages, the team plans to keep adding new weapon classes, monsters, raid bosses, and operations. No dates were given for any stage, and as of October 19, 2026, when the playtest ended, none of this has a release window. For the world the war takes place in, see Story and Setting; for how the current operations work, see Missions and the Headquarters.
