Misumi Tozawa
September 16, 2026 at 04:51 AM
Added the State of Play reveal context and noted she is reported as a recruitable partner
Misumi Tozawa, known to almost everyone as Mito, is an ally announced for the post-launch expansion rather than a character in the launch build. She was revealed on September 3, 2026 alongside the name of the add-on itself, Genesis Maidens, which is set for winter 2026. The reveal came with a trailer during a Sony State of Play broadcast in Japan. She cannot be recruited, fought alongside, or met in the shipped game as of September 16, 2026.

Weapon | Curved sword, a type that does not exist in the base game. See Weapon Types. |

Origin | Enters from the Progressive films |
Official copy places Mito on the support side of the partner structure, joining the party to back the player up, and she has been reported as a recruitable partner rather than a story-only character. That framing puts her in the same functional bracket as the launch partners who lean on utility rather than raw output, though nothing has been published about what her support actually does.
Like every partner on the shipped roster covered on NPC Companions, she brings a paired Combination Skill and Support Skill of her own. Neither has been named, and no effect, cost, or cooldown has been described. Whether she follows the launch roster's pattern of unlocking through a main quest plus a short chain of related side quests is also unannounced.
The most consequential thing about Mito is not her character but her weapon. She introduces the curved sword, which would be the seventh weapon type in a game that shipped with six. The base lineup splits four one-handed options that can pair with a shield against two two-handed options, and nothing has been said about which side of that split the curved sword falls on.
Everything a player would want to know is still open: its handedness, its reach and speed profile, whether it gets the roughly ten Sword Skills per type that the launch weapons carry, how its proficiency curve behaves, and whether the player can wield it themselves or only see it in Mito's hands. This page will not guess at any of it.
The announcement describes Mito as making her entrance from the Progressive films, and states that she still struggles to overcome the guilt she bears from her past actions. Those two sentences are the entire published account of her background, and they are quoted here because they came from the game's own press material.
What that provenance does not license is importing her story from outside this game. Echoes of Aincrad covers Floors 1 and 2 of Aincrad and tells its own story with a player-created protagonist, and it has consistently reworked which series characters appear and in what role. Her history in the source material is not this game's canon until the game itself shows it. Anything on this page beyond the paragraph above would be borrowed rather than confirmed, so it is left out.
Her unlock conditions and where in the add-on's storyline she joins.
The names and effects of her Combination Skill and Support Skill.
Her voice cast in either English or Japanese.
Whether she has her own side quests, as the launch partners do.
Whether the curved sword is usable by the player or exclusive to her.
Any stat, attribute, or equipment detail.
The add-on has no day-and-month release date inside its winter 2026 window, so none of the above is likely to be answered before a further announcement. See Expansion DLC for the full content reveal and Update History for the patch and announcement record.
