A class is the second half of a character in Dimraeth. Your race sets the base combat kit, the weapon it fights with and the shape of its basic attacks; the class layers its own spells and identity over that. The two together form an archetype, and every archetype has its own skill tree with spells and passives that no other archetype can use.
Named Classes
Three classes have been named in first-party material. As of 2026-09-12 no other class name appears anywhere current. The class showcase on the official site has four slots with two left empty, which makes it a partial preview rather than a complete list.
Class | Status | What is known |
|---|---|---|
Brawler | Playable in the demo and in both playtests | A close combat specialist built around grappling and swift, unpredictable attacks. Lightly armoured and agile, relying on stamina and cunning rather than heavy protection. |
Magician | Playable in the demo and in both playtests. Written as Mage inside archetype names | Blends elemental magic with weapon strikes, drawing on fire, ice and lightning to exploit enemy weaknesses. |
Shadow | Announced on 2 September 2026 as a new class for the Early Access build | As of 2026-09-12 no first-party source has described the Shadow’s abilities, weapons, armour or playstyle. Only the name and the fact that it arrives with Early Access have been published. |
Archetypes
Race plus class equals an archetype, and the archetype is what actually carries the skill tree. Three archetype names have been published.
Race | Class | Archetype |
|---|---|---|
Brawler | Vanguard | |
Magician | Earthshaker | |
Magician | Elemental Ranger |
Each archetype also carries a passive tied to one attribute. The published example is the Minotaur Brawler, the Vanguard, which gains bonus stamina whenever Strength is levelled. Because the XP cost of every attribute is set by the race and class pairing, two players of the same class can end up with very different attribute economies depending on the race underneath. This is covered in Progression and Leveling.
What a Class Contributes
Contribution | Detail |
|---|---|
Spells | Race and class each supply their own spells. Five can be equipped at a time, and crafted spellbooks add universal magic on top, gated behind each spell’s attribute requirements. See Spells and Magic. |
Skill tree | One tree per archetype, not per class, with spells and passives exclusive to that pairing. A skill tree overhaul is listed among the changes arriving with Early Access. |
Attribute costs | The class half of the pairing helps set what each attribute costs in XP. |
Combat identity | Class decides how you spend stamina in a fight, but not the weapon or the basic attack chain, which belong to the race. See Combat. |
Class Content in Early Builds
The Magician is the oldest class in the public record. A May 2023 patch note describes a "teleport bookmark for magician class" that remembers locations to teleport to later, with the number of stored locations scaling with a Memory attribute. Base spells for the Magician and the Brawler were described as being finalised in March 2024, and unique spellbooks for each class had been added in October 2023.
A set of Brawler spells appears by name in the March 2024 notes: Challenge, Breathe, Furious Strike, Pulverize, Quick Jab, Power Hook and Strong Straight. A July 2024 note gives Pulverize 25 percent more damage against stunned targets. These are patch-note lines from builds more than two years older than Early Access. They show the spells existed when written; they carry no guarantee about current behaviour or numbers.
Classes That Appear Only in Early Builds
Two further class names appear in 2023 patch notes and nowhere since.
Name | Appears | What the notes say |
|---|---|---|
Builder, also written Build Class | August and September 2023 | An August 2023 coming-soon list promises "Builder Class Functionality (Building turrets, traps, hedgehogs)". A September 2023 entry adds "Build Class Specials (Turret, Fish Net, Hedgehog, Obelisk, etc)" and a Construct spell that goes with it. Both spellings are the developers’ own. |
Lurker | July 2023 | A single line records an "Invisibility mechanic for XPing (Lurker class)". The name is never used again. |
Neither name appears in any current material, and as of 2026-09-12 neither has been confirmed as a class in the Early Access build. In particular, no first-party source connects the Lurker to the Shadow. They are two stealth-flavoured names recorded three years apart, and treating them as the same class would be a guess rather than a fact. Both belong to Development History rather than to the current roster.
The Intended Roster
The stated 1.0 target is "8+ races and 6 classes", described by the developers as at least 48 archetypes. That is a target for a version that does not exist yet. As of 2026-09-12 three classes have been named, one of them without any description, and the remaining names in that target do not appear in any first-party source.
