Dimraeth has been developed in public since May 2023. Mudtek has posted a development update most months since then, and the run of 49 posts to date is the main record of how the game was built. This page reconstructs that record.
One warning up front, because it governs how everything below should be read: a patch-note bullet proves a feature existed or was worked on. It carries no statistics and no guarantee the feature survived into the Early Access build. Systems on this page were built, rebuilt, renamed and in several cases removed. Nothing here should be read as a description of the game people play on 15 September 2026 unless it is also stated on a current page.

2023: Foundations
The oldest public post is dated 1 May 2023 and carries version 0.37.19, so a substantial amount of work predates the public record. That first post already has a teleport system, a memory attribute, ranged auto-attacks and the Troll and Fairy characters in the game.
The next few months laid in most of the structural systems at speed. Human was added in May, Elf at the end of the month alongside the first dungeon and a stun system. June brought a large technical rewrite: the combat formula system was recoded, introducing combat power and resistances; monsters were rebuilt as network objects; the multiplayer server code and the damage system were recoded; and the UI was rebuilt out of sprite renderers so screen shake would work. The same month produced a brand new beginner map. Later in June, the storefront’s own networking layer replaced port forwarding.
July and August 2023 built the town. The blacksmith, monastery, tavern and guild hall arrived in July with harvesting and an NPC pathing system tied to a calendar. Difficulty modes, pets, mining and town bank accounts followed later that month. August completed the Earlwood map, implemented hunger and thirst, added ten rune sets, and then delivered the training hall, minimap rework, hot air balloon, harbour, sailing ship, fishing shop, safe zones, party lists and parties of up to six players.
The autumn added islands and balloon travel, a keyword-driven NPC chat interface, class-specific spellbooks, the pet HUD with attack, follow and stay modes, and a large ambient fauna pass. On 30 October the team redid the Earlwood area for a better design layout, created proficiencies covering woodcutting, mining and cooking, and built the storage system.
The year closed with the most consequential post of the period. On 10 December 2023, after six weeks of work, the team wrote that they had welcomed new people and that the expansion had let them extend the scope of the game, with the primary goal being "to bring an immersive and comprehensive demo to your screens, showcasing a slice of every game system we’ve passionately been working on". The same post carries a new skill tree design, a new spell system, and a line that cut four playable characters. See "Cut Content" below.
2024: Scope, Systems and a Demo That Slipped
2024 was a year of rebuilding rather than expanding. January brought a new player UI and an arena mode. March moved the whole audio stack to new middleware, created the Faustas’ Rest scene, designed a new quest system and upgraded harvesting.
The 31 March post is the pivot. It is described as one of the team’s most productive months and states the goal plainly: to get a demo into players’ hands by the end of the year. It also delivered per-biome weather, tombstones, a variable-parameter spell system, completed mining and woodcutting, and a spell mastery system where using a spell more often increases its power.
That target did not hold. On 3 June 2024 the team acknowledged the slip directly: "The last 6 months we have lost a little agility in the original development timeline, but it will all pay dividends later this year when we’re able to deliver a much more comprehensive game!" The demo eventually released on 2 April 2026, roughly fifteen months after the end-of-2024 aim. The same June post reports eight-person multiplayer being playtested internally, the sprint mechanic on the shift key, and a quest and NPC redesign that the team described as attempting to use natural language processing.
The second half of the year was race and content work. July reported a four to five times client frame rate improvement and foundational lore added. August implemented the NPC dialogue system and a levelling system, and placed Alaric in the guild hall. September completed the Minotaur race design and added multiplayer lobby types and personal loot. October designed the Human race, implemented the Minotaur, overhauled the crafting UI and added Tamsin’s shop. November added the three Earlwood Forest zones and concepted Earlwood Village. December overhauled the rune system, added the character skill line trees, added the forge and crafting UI, expanded Earlwood Forest and implemented gathering.
2025: The World, the First Playtest and the Award
2025 is where the world of Mirkea took shape. January added the guild hall poker system and WASD movement. February overhauled the Earlwood scene, added a tavern card game, implemented the skill tree and the levelling UI, added a wolf monster and began concepting the Wildwood.
April and May were the lore months. Corruption assets and Old Ones assets were added to the map, and the team described both as core parts of the Dimraeth lore and mythos. Building tools and player base customisation arrived, Moderate became the default difficulty, and the following month brought the Pool of Remembrance, the Elven Ruins, housing furniture, a corrupted variant of the Treant and a multiplayer voting system. June expanded the Wildwood, added the Corrupted Forest with new music, and gave the pet system its first entry under a rebuilt design.
On 13 June 2025 the game director posted the first signed design devlog, on Earlwood Village, opening with "This is likely the first time you’ve heard from me directly. As we move toward release, I’ll be posting regular updates." A second followed on 18 July, on combat, which announced the aim of offering over 300 spells at launch. July also added the Lost Caverns and thirteen new spells.
August 2025 brought the art-direction post on the Earlwood Peninsula, and September brought the first public playtest and the game’s first trailer. In October the studio announced Most Anticipated Game at the Pitch Competition of Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2025, and posted on Steam Deck support. November’s design post laid out the archetype system.
2026: Playtest, Demo, Launch
January 2026 brought a design post on crafting and the announcement of a technical playtest held from 30 January to 2 February, focused on full controller and Steam Deck support, Brazilian Portuguese and Simplified Chinese localisation, and multiplayer lobbies. That playtest introduced Bounties, character customisation, more than ten new Deeds, a new area, a revamped tutorial, a new boss and three new monster types.
An announcement trailer followed on 12 March 2026, whose description expected Early Access "sometime around Q3 of this year". The demo released on 2 April 2026 and ran until 15 July. On 2 July the team fixed the Early Access date to 15 September 2026 and promised a roadmap closer to release. The Early Access content list was published on 2 September 2026.

The First Public Playtest
The September 2025 playtest offered two races and two classes, Human and Minotaur crossed with Brawler and Magician, and two to five hours of content. Many spells still carried placeholder visual effects, and the romance content had no payoffs in that build. The playtest was announced as running 19 to 22 September and reported as 19 to 21; both figures are first-party and neither corrects the other.
The Technical Playtest
The early 2026 technical playtest has a similar date discrepancy: one post gives 30 January to 1 February, while the post title gives 30 January to 2 February. It offered around three to five hours of content and existed to test platform support and localisation rather than to show new content.
Version Ledger
Every release post from May 2023 to July 2025 carried a version string. They increase monotonically with one exception, noted underneath.

0.98.4155 and 0.98.4175 | 20 and 21 September 2025 |
0.98.4201 | 5 October 2025 |
Two separate monthly posts, one from 1 April 2025 and one from 1 May 2025, are both titled Release 0.95.1669. They carry entirely different changelogs, so they are two releases and should not be merged into one row. The likeliest explanation is a copy-paste error in one of the two titles, but the developers have never corrected it. The string 0.97.2693 also appears against a September 2025 post as well as the July 2025 one, which looks like the same kind of reuse.
There is no post in the archive between 30 October and 10 December 2023, and none in March 2025. Neither gap indicates a pause in development; the December post opens by covering the previous six weeks.
Cut Content
Content has been removed as well as added, and this section is the honest record of it. None of the following should be treated as part of the current game.
Griffon, Centaur and Troll
All three were real playable characters in 2023. Troll was added to the game on 1 May 2023. Centaur received sound effects on 8 May 2023 and a genuine tuning pass in the same post, with its auto-attack range reduced from 1.8 to 1.5. Griffon received sound effects in May and a collider size adjustment in August.
On 10 December 2023 the developers wrote a single line: "Removing Griffon, Elf, Centaur, and Troll from Demo." The wording describes a scope cut for the demo build rather than an outright cancellation. Elf came back. Griffon, Centaur and Troll have never been confirmed back. As of 2026-09-12 none of the three appears in any statement about the Early Access or 1.0 roster, and none should be listed as a playable race. See Races.
The Elf’s Round Trip
The Elf was added on 29 May 2023, cut from the demo on 10 December 2023 alongside the other three, and re-announced as a new race for Early Access on 2 September 2026. It was therefore in the game more than two and a half years before it was announced as new. The 2023 implementation and the 2026 one should not be assumed to be the same work.
The Builder Class
A building-focused class appears only in 2023 posts, and under two spellings. An August 2023 list of upcoming work names "Builder Class Functionality (building turrets, traps, hedgehogs)". The following month a post reports adding "Build Class Specials (Turret, Fish Net, Hedgehog, Obelisk, etc)" and a Construct spell to go with the Build Class. The class is never mentioned again in any later post. As of 2026-09-12 it is not part of any announced class roster.
The Lurker
A class named Lurker appears exactly once, in a July 2023 line: "Implemented Invisibility mechanic for XPing (Lurker class)". It is never mentioned again. The Shadow announced for Early Access is also stealth-themed, and it is tempting to treat Lurker as an earlier name for it, but no post connects the two. This page records Lurker as a 2023 class name with no stated fate and does not equate it with the Shadow.
Newthcreek
Newthcreek is a map named in May and June 2023 and never afterwards. A brand new beginner map was created in June 2023 and Earlwood was completed in August. The developers have never said Newthcreek was renamed, replaced or removed. It is recorded here as a 2023 map name with no stated fate. See Regions and Locations.
Features Announced but Never Confirmed Delivered
An August 2023 list of upcoming work names nine items. Later posts confirm the snake monster, the bank scene, the tavern interior, the crafting shop and the Build Class specials. Three are never confirmed: a spider monster, a bandit monster, and a working fishing mechanic. A fishing shop and a Fisherman NPC exist; fishing itself is never reported as done.
Systems Built More Than Once
Several systems have multiple "created", "added" or "implemented" entries across the years. Reading any single bullet as the origin date of a system will usually be wrong.
System | Reported builds |
|---|---|
Skill tree | New design December 2023; character skill line trees December 2024; implemented February 2025; overhauled again for Early Access |
Pets | Added July 2023; pet HUD and modes October 2023; "pets are now added" May 2025; new pet system June 2025; nine pets at Early Access |
Monster AI | Behaviour class recoded with seven new behaviours July 2023; rebuilt by an outside game designer May 2024; described as token-based July 2025 |
Quest system | New quest system designed March 2024; redesigned with the NPC system June 2024; quests UI April 2025 |
Rune system | Ten rune sets August 2023; overhaul December 2024; rune forge June 2025; runes sellable by rarity May 2025 |
Spell system | New spell system December 2023; variable parameters March 2024; spell mastery March 2024 |
Main menu | Rebuilt May 2024; refreshed September 2024; updated November 2024 |
WASD movement | Implemented January 2025; a new system for it built February 2025 |
The same caution applies to difficulty modes. Easy, Moderate and Hard were enabled in July 2023 and Moderate became the default in April 2025, so the difficulty levels named in the Early Access list are a revision or a first wide exposure, not a first implementation.
The AI Dialogue Thread
One thread across 2023 and 2024 deserves recording precisely, because it is easy to get wrong in either direction.
Date | What was actually said |
|---|---|
11 September 2023 | NPC chat interface added, described as keyword-driven in the style of a text MUD, "will integrate AI next year" |
3 June 2024 | Quest and NPC systems redesigned, "attempting to use NLP" |
1 October 2024 | A fix line refers to errors when loading the AI model, which means a model was being loaded at runtime at that point |
After October 2024 | No post confirms the feature shipped |
The 2025 and 2026 posts describe conversations, keyword lists and dialogue without ever describing them as AI-driven. The honest summary is that the studio attempted it and never stated an outcome. This wiki does not claim Dimraeth has AI-driven NPC dialogue. Conversation as documented is keyword-based. See Characters.
Figures from Development
Each of these is the developers’ own number, with the date it was given. Several are historical and have since changed.
Figure | Value | Stated |
|---|---|---|
Party cap | 6 players, for a maximum +50% XP bonus | August 2023 |
Party cap (current) | 1 to 8 players, recommended 1 to 4 | Current. The +50% figure was only ever given at the 6-player cap and does not carry over |
Rune sets | 10 sets, bonuses per set of 3 | August 2023 |
Inventory size | 36 slots | October 2023 |
Difficulty levels | 3 (Easy, Moderate, Hard) | July 2023 |
Frame rate gain | +200% from optimisation | August 2023 |
Client frame rate gain | 4 to 5 times | July 2024 |
Multiplayer tested at | 8 players internally | June 2024 |
Basic attack combo chain | 3 to 4 hits, per race | July 2025 |
Spells at launch | over 300, stated as an aim | July 2025 |
Spells added that month | 13 | July 2025 |
Earlwood’s founding | three centuries before the game | June 2025 |
Wishlists | 60,000 | May 2026 |
Unique demo players | around 30,000 by 12 May 2026, around 60,000 by 15 July 2026 | May and July 2026 |
Early Access content | around 4 times the demo | June 2026 |
Level cap at Early Access | 25, rising with each new act | September 2026 |
Team size | 10 developers, fully remote | September 2026 |
The "over 300 spells" figure is an aim stated fourteen months before Early Access, and "launch" in that sentence is ambiguous between Early Access and 1.0. No later count has been published, and it should not be quoted as a shipped number. See Spells and Magic.
