The Dimraeth demo released on 2 April 2026 and closed on 15 July 2026. Around 60,000 people played it over those fifteen weeks. As of 2026-09-12 no demo is available, and the developers have not announced a replacement.
It was the game’s first open, unrestricted public build. Two limited playtests came before it, in September 2025 and in early 2026, both time-boxed and both narrower in scope. See Development History.

What the Demo Contained
Element | What was available |
|---|---|
Races | Human and Minotaur. See Races. |
Classes | Brawler and Magician. See Classes. |
Areas | The farmlands, the Wildwood Forest and Earlwood Village. See Regions and Locations. |
Equipment | More than 20 equipment sets. See Equipment and Loot. |
Crafting | Included. See Crafting. |
Input | Controller support |
Languages | Portuguese and Chinese alongside English |
That gives four playable combinations of race and class out of the far larger set of archetypes the finished game is aiming at. Co-op was available, and the demo carried the localisation and controller work that the technical playtest in early 2026 had been built to test.
Festival Appearances
The demo was live through two storefront events, which is where most of its player numbers came from.
Event | Dates |
|---|---|
Witches, Wizards and Warlocks festival | 26 May to 5 June 2026 |
Steam Next Fest | 15 to 22 June 2026 |
Reception by the Numbers
The developers published two figures during the demo’s run. By 12 May 2026, around six weeks in, the game had 60,000 wishlists and around 30,000 unique demo players. By the time the demo closed on 15 July, the player figure had roughly doubled to around 60,000.
No first-party completion rate, average session length or review summary has been published for the demo as of 2026-09-12.
Why It Was Pulled
The developers closed the demo on 15 July 2026, two months before Early Access, and explained the decision directly. Their framing was that a wide divergence had opened up between the features in the demo and what would actually be in Early Access, and that bringing the demo back would likely need it to be rebuilt quite a bit.
That is a scope explanation rather than a technical one. The demo was built on a build that the game had moved past: the Early Access version adds a race, a class, two regions, world bosses, nine pets, a skill tree overhaul and reworked character customisation, so a demo cut from the older build would have shown players something the game no longer was. See Release and Early Access.
The Demo in Relation to Early Access
In June 2026 the developers estimated the Early Access build at around four times what players were seeing in the demo. That is the only comparative figure they have given, and it is a rough one by their own phrasing.
Every one of the demo’s races, classes, areas and systems carries over into Early Access, with more alongside them. The demo is therefore a floor rather than a sample that was cut back.
The Demo’s Long Road
The demo took far longer to arrive than the studio originally intended. A demo was named as the primary goal in December 2023. On 31 March 2024 the team said they were working hard to get a demo into players’ hands by the end of that year, and a May 2024 post opens "We are one month closer to our demo release!" In June 2024 the team acknowledged that the previous six months had cost them agility against the original timeline.
The demo released on 2 April 2026, roughly fifteen months after the end-of-2024 target. The full sequence is set out on Development History.
Current Availability
As of 2026-09-12 there is no playable demo of Dimraeth on any surface, and no first-party statement has announced one returning. The developers described a re-release as something that would need substantial rebuilding, which is a reason not to expect one rather than a commitment either way. Early Access opens on 15 September 2026.
