Where Old Devils Lie continues Anca's research after Between the Words. The journey follows Enolf's map clues to a sealed ruin and leads directly into Stronger Than Achilles.

Starting the quest

Enolf's clues

Speak with Anca about the Font of Life and inspect the map. Identify the landmarks described in Enolf's writings, including the lord's symbol near the old devils and the face etched into the clouds. If it is too late to depart, return before noon.

Follow Anca north and uphill. Defeat the wolves, reach the overlook above the lake and discuss the next clues. Continue upstream, pass through the cave and follow the water to the ruins.

Entering the ruin

The main entrance is blocked. Go around its right side, use the fallen column and squeeze through the gap. Follow Anca and inspect the painting where she stops.

Go downstairs through the chambers and metal doors, defeating the enemies on the route. In the final chamber, use Focus Mode to inspect the stone mortar, broken pot and painting. Discuss them with Anca, then tell her you are ready. Her markings let Coen pass through the sealed doorway and begin Stronger Than Achilles.
