Revision - the lunar game - The Blood of Dawnwalker Wiki

The Lunar Game is Bakir's contest at Lunar Manor. Coen enters through Farkas's plan, survives a maze and then decides how to approach the boyar. The contestant choices affect whether Bakir can be isolated in the treasury.

Unlock and preparation

Detail	Requirement
Quest giver	Farkas outside Lunar Manor in The Silts
Unlock	Fully anger Bakir through his court activities, then complete another court activity.
Time	The contest runs at night; Farkas can be spoken to beforehand.
Listed time cost	5 segments
Missable	No

Farkas warns against using vampiric powers during the contest, including Shadowstep and Shapeshift. Prepare blood vials for healing and a combat setup that can fight without those travel abilities. Before the game, Coen can talk to the Rat, Cockroach and Porcupine. Each conversation advances time by one hour.

The nearby herbs can be added to Cockroach's jug to poison him before the later fight. Telling Cockroach about a plan to kill Bakir gives him information he can reveal if he survives. That betrayal can be used in the route to Bakir's treasury, but it is a deliberate commitment rather than harmless dialogue.

Through the maze

Stage	Route and hazards
First chamber	Take blood vials from the chest if needed, then crouch into the opening on the left and kill the hound.
Wall gap	Find the red-lit dead end to the east, then take the crack on its left. Kill the hounds in the next clearing.
Ruined tower	Pass through the tower opening and crawl through the next hole. Undead rise on the far side.
Porcupine	Continue through the wall gap. Fight him, or agree to go separate ways. Sparing him here changes the token scene later.
Murohn	Pass the gate and defeat the Murohn before using the next door.
Riddle	At the riddle, choose the left option to open the portcullis safely.
Great Bog Wurm	Avoid its venom spit when it resurfaces after burrowing.
Cockroach	Climb to the clearing. A fight follows regardless of the initial reply; afterward, decide whether he lives.
Token	Reach the center and retrieve the victory token. If Porcupine survived earlier, he is tied to the tree with the token inside him.

Choosing the confrontation

Removing the mask immediately leads to a fight against Bakir and his followers. Coen first faces five enemies, including Bakir's consort, before fighting Bakir. This route clears the manor's opposition, but involves the larger encounter.

The treasury route isolates Bakir for the fight. It requires telling Cockroach about the plan, leaving Cockroach alive, sparing Porcupine at the first meeting and then killing Porcupine to claim the token. At the celebration, keep the sword and mask, accept the hospitality and drink the toasts. When Cockroach's accusation comes up, deny the scheme and say he lied. These steps build the approval needed for an invitation to the treasury.

Fighting Bakir alone avoids the initial wave, but his followers and consort remain outside afterward. Asking for Farkas's ring instead of attacking does not force a fight: Bakir denies having it, offers coin and remains alive. Choose the route according to whether the immediate goal is defeating the boyar or leaving him in place.

Blood and the ring

After defeating Bakir, the blood decision offers the night ability Shadowstorm if Coen drains him. His armor must be looted from the place he died. The treasury is then accessible, and the amethyst ring lies in its northwest part.

Inspecting the ring reveals its magical nature. Giving it to Farkas closes The Ring at once. Keeping it starts the search for someone who can explain it. This is separate from merely asking Bakir for the ring during the celebration.

Rewards and follow-up

Reward or follow-up	How it is obtained
Bakir's Armor	Defeat Bakir and loot the death location.
Ring with a Purple Eye	Recover the amethyst ring from the treasury.
The Ring	Keep the recovered ring rather than return it directly to Farkas.

Ordinary chest contents can vary, so the maze route should not be read as a fixed loot list. See The Gilded Gauntlet and The Cycle of Love for the other boyar confrontations.

Inviting Bakir

To invite Bakir into Coen's mind, drain him during The Lunar Game and choose to take him along in Anachora. This invitation is unavailable if his first defeat is during the final castle assault, even though he can still be drained there at night. An invited Bakir comments during travel and helps briefly against Brencis, who later absorbs his soul and turns his power against Coen.

Choosing a recipient for the ring

Recipient	Outcome
Farkas	Returning the ring closes The Ring immediately.
Anca	Destroys the recovered ring and gives Quick Fighter's Ring.
Sanzhana Tsarina or Bakr-Erga	Gives the Vrakhiri's Endurance amulet.

Giving the recovered ring to Anca, Bakr-Erga or the Sanzhana Tsarina costs two time segments. The reward depends on the recipient; this decision follows recovering the Ring with a Purple Eye after defeating Bakir, rather than the earlier request to enter his treasury.
