Nikola Kolodziejczyk | Lead composer. Previously composed for The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine DLC |
Piotr Musial | Additional composer. Known for Frostpunk 2 |
Mikolai Stroinski | Additional composer. Known for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |
The three composers were revealed in Community Bulletin Board #3, titled "Music in Our Blood." Having both Stroinski and Kolodziejczyk (composers who worked on different aspects of The Witcher 3's music) working on the same project again ties the soundtrack to the same lineage, though the musical direction is distinct.
Musical Direction
Lead composer Nikola Kolodziejczyk has tied the score to specifically Carpathian-mountain folk traditions rather than generic medieval orchestral fantasy. The team draws on the music of the peoples who actually lived at the foot of the Carpathians in the 14th century. Polish folk singer Karolina Matuszkiewicz provides the lead vocal line and folk violinist Kacper Malisz performs scraped-string parts; the AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of Tychy carries the main orchestral parts. The blend is intentional, the historical material in the foreground, the orchestral arrangement supporting underneath.
The soundtrack is rooted in 14th-century Eastern European folk aesthetics. The goal is historical texture rather than generic orchestral fantasy scoring. The music opens with restrained, folk-influenced vocals layered over scraped violin lines, building steadily with heavy percussion toward wailing vocals and frantic string work.
Kolodziejczyk has said: "We wanted the music to be grounded, to show that we as Coen are not a superhero, but a protagonist, with real challenges." Combat music is described as dynamic and fast-paced, designed to match the game's supernatural abilities while keeping a sense of weight.

Published Track Credits
The studio has published a full credit block alongside several of the pieces it released ahead of launch, which is the most detailed account of who played what that exists in public. The blocks distinguish composition from performance, and the distinction matters: the same names recur in both lists in different roles.
Piece | Credited As Composed By | Named Performers and Engineers |
|---|---|---|
Ballad of Night and Day | Mikolai Stroinski | Not itemised in the published block. |
Desperate Measures | Piotr Musial | Not itemised in the published block. |
Battle of Retribution | Nikola Kolodziejczyk | Karolina Matuszkiewicz (fidel, open and whispered voice), Kacper Malisz (violin), Paulina Krakowian (fidel), Monika Sobolewska (cello), Wojciech Lubertowicz (drums), Michal Pekosz (drums and frame drums), the Atom String Quartet, Maciej Szczycinski (double bass), and Blazej Domanski as recording and mixing engineer. Kolodziejczyk also plays hurdy gurdy, voice and hand percussion on the track. |
Main Theme | Nikola Kolodziejczyk (composition, orchestration and conducting) | Kacper Malisz (baritone and solo violin), Karolina Matuszkiewicz (lead voice, kamancheh, Plock fiddle), the AUKSO Chamber Orchestra of Tychy under Kolodziejczyk, Wojciech Lubertowicz and Michal Pekosz (folk percussion), Adam Jedrysik (guitar and score supervision), Tymoteusz Hartman (music preparation, orchestration, score supervision), and Blazej Domanski as recording, mixing and mastering engineer. Recorded in Tychy and mixed in Piaseczno. |
Uphill Battle | Nikola Kolodziejczyk | The Atom String Quartet, Wojciech Lubertowicz and Karolina Matuszkiewicz, with Matuszkiewicz on lead vocal. |
Two things follow from reading those blocks closely. The first is that the ensemble is much larger than a three-composer line suggests: woodwind, Wagner tubas, timpani, a chamber orchestra and a folk percussion section all appear on the main theme alone. The second is a correction worth stating plainly, because the opposite has circulated. Several names that have been passed around as additional composers appear in the studio’s own credits in other roles entirely. Wojciech Lubertowicz is credited as a percussionist, Adam Jedrysik on guitar and score supervision, and Blazej Domanski as an engineer. Karolina Matuszkiewicz, likewise, is a performer credit and a prominent one, not a composing credit. On the evidence the studio has actually published, the composing credits remain the three named in the bulletin.
No complete credits list has been published outside these individual pieces, so the roll that runs at the end of the shipped game is still the only thing that could extend this list.
Release
On September 29, 2026 the soundtrack was released as a standalone download inside the Steam library for owners of the Eclipse Edition content, in a Soundtracks folder, in both MP3 and WAV. It is available only to owners of the Eclipse Edition content and cannot be bought on its own.

The same announcement said the score would also come to music streaming services through the studio's own accounts about a week later. A standalone streaming release had been described as planned before launch. In October 2026 the studio confirmed in a post on the game's official channel that the soundtrack was now available on music streaming platforms, with one more service listed as coming shortly.
