Bandai Namco Entertainment signed a global publishing deal with Rebel Wolves on October 23, 2024. Under this agreement, Bandai Namco handles both retail and digital distribution of The Blood of Dawnwalker on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is described as the first chapter of a brand-new role-playing saga, implying planned sequels or continuation.
Rebel Wolves has confirmed the game is "fully funded" and unaffected by NetEase's restructuring. NetEase holds only a minority stake in Rebel Wolves (investment secured in November 2022), with the studio retaining full creative control and IP ownership. The Bandai Namco deal covers publishing and distribution; it does not give Bandai Namco creative input or IP rights.
Studio CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz founded Rebel Wolves in February 2022 in Warsaw, Poland. The studio was built around a core of veterans from CD Projekt Red, including developers from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The funding structure (NetEase minority investment plus Bandai Namco publishing deal) preserves the studio's creative autonomy, which Tomaszkiewicz has emphasized as a priority.
The game was revealed on January 13, 2025, during a livestream from Rebel Wolves' studio under the Full Wolf Moon. A full gameplay reveal followed at the Xbox Games show in June 2025, with hands-off press previews at Gamescom in August 2025. The release is scheduled for September 3, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X|S.
Bandai Namco Entertainment confirmed during the April 28, 2026 Road to Launch event that The Blood of Dawnwalker launches on September 3, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders opened the same day on Steam, the PlayStation Store, and the Xbox Store, with retail pre-orders for the physical box also live worldwide while supplies last.
The publishing partnership covers four editions of the game. Two are digital only, one is the first physical print available at retail worldwide, and one is a deluxe collector package sold at Bandai Namco stores and select retailers. Bundle availability for the physical SKUs varies by region, so the printed product description on each box is the authoritative list of what is included.
Edition | Format | Contents |
|---|---|---|
Standard Edition | Digital | The base game on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S. |
Eclipse Edition | Digital | Includes the base game, a digital world compendium, a digital comic book, and the digital soundtrack. |
Day 1 Edition | Physical (retail, while supplies last) | The first print of the Standard Edition. Bundled with a SteelBook case and a printed map of Vale Sangora. |
Collector's Edition | Physical (Bandai Namco stores and select retailers) | Includes everything in the Day 1 Edition, plus a code that redeems the Eclipse Edition digital bonuses, a physical version of the world compendium, and a Coen figurine, all packaged in a presentation box. |
Every pre-order, regardless of edition, includes a code that unlocks the Sangoran Wayfarer's Armour Set early for Coen. The same set is still discoverable in the world later in the campaign for players who do not pre-order, so the bonus is an early-access perk rather than exclusive content.
