Added the four-edition table, Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor preorder bonus, and Collector's Edition contents
Bandai Namco Entertainment signed a global publishing deal with Rebel Wolves on October 23, 2024. Under this agreement, Bandai Namco handles both retail and digital distribution of The Blood of Dawnwalker on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is described as the first chapter of a brand-new role-playing saga, implying planned sequels or continuation.
Rebel Wolves has confirmed the game is fully funded and unaffected by NetEase's restructuring. NetEase holds only a minority stake in Rebel Wolves (investment secured in November 2022), with the studio retaining full creative control and IP ownership. The Bandai Namco deal covers publishing and distribution; it does not give Bandai Namco creative input or IP rights.
Studio CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz founded Rebel Wolves in February 2022 in Warsaw, Poland. The studio was built around a core of veterans from CD Projekt Red, including developers from The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. The funding structure (NetEase minority investment plus Bandai Namco publishing deal) preserves the studio's creative autonomy, which Tomaszkiewicz has emphasized as a priority.
The game was revealed on January 13, 2025, during a livestream from Rebel Wolves' studio under the Full Wolf Moon. A full gameplay reveal followed at the Xbox Games show in June 2025, with hands-off press previews at Gamescom in August 2025. The release is scheduled for September 3, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Bandai Namco confirmed four retail editions during the April 28, 2026 Road to Launch event. All four include the digital Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set as a pre-order bonus, an in-fiction set tied to a nameless travelling smith. The set is an early unlock; players who do not pre-order can still obtain it later in-game.
Edition | Contents |
|---|---|
Standard Edition | Base game. Digital pre-order bonus: Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set. |
Day 1 Edition | Base game disc plus a Steelbook case and a physical world map. Digital pre-order bonus: Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set. |
Eclipse Edition | Base game with a digital World Compendium, a digital comic book, and the digital soundtrack. Digital pre-order bonus: Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set. |
Collector's Edition | Base game, Steelbook, a 33 by 40 centimetre physical world map, a 23 centimetre Purearts Coen figurine, a 60-page hardcover physical World Compendium, and all digital content from the Eclipse Edition. Suggested price: 199.99 USD / 174.99 GBP / 199.99 EUR. |
Pre-order bonus art design ties Coen's loadout to a recurring in-fiction figure: a smith who travelled across the continent in pursuit of inspiration, whose anonymous emblem is stitched into the set. The bonus is purely cosmetic at unlock; the armor's effective slot in the gear progression has not been disclosed before launch.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is rated PEGI 18+ for mature content. The game features supernatural violence, blood feeding, and adult themes consistent with the dark-fantasy register Rebel Wolves has described.
Beyond distribution and physical manufacturing, Bandai Namco handles the global marketing campaign, the localisation pipeline, and the certification submissions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rebel Wolves remains in control of the creative direction, the technical roadmap, and the post-launch content strategy. The arrangement mirrors the publisher-versus-developer split that the Rebel Wolves leadership has spoken about wanting since the studio was founded.
