A Monk and a Saint
October 23, 2026 at 01:31 PM
Added independent Night Terrors start and court activity tradeoff
A Monk and a Saint follows Albertus's account of Saint Mihai to a crypt beneath Svartrau Cathedral. Coen can investigate through the daytime cathedral errands or reach the clues from above at night.
Detail | Requirement |
|---|---|
Anca's lead | Between the Words points Coen toward Albertus in the northern Middens. |
Albertus's house | Focus Mode highlights the writing covering it. Speak by taking the charcoal. |
Listed time | 2 segments; extra entry errands can add costs. |
Stage | What to do |
|---|---|
Write Albertus's account | Choose Abelard the Sorrowful, Svartrau plaza, his penance and redemption, never setting foot inside the cathedral, then St. Mihai arriving in Vale Sangora. Wrong answers return to the prompt. |
Daytime entry | Talk to the Deacon and Craftsman. Pay the almshouse resident 100 Denarii for the abandoned wing location. Move its scratched bookcase, descend and obtain the Caretaker's Key. |
Restore the window | Open the Caretaker's Shed for Glass Shards and bring them to the Craftsman. The Deacon gives the Library Key. Read the highlighted library bookcase and examine the repaired window. |
Night entry | Shadowstep up the southwestern tower onto the balcony. Inspect the leftmost fresco, then enter the courtyard well. Inspect the corpse, clear the next room and move the boulder to leave. |
Find the grave | Facing the cathedral from the courtyard, use the second grave from the right. Prepare for a boss before entering the crypt. |
Break into the chamber | At the dead end, find the highlighted broken wall with Focus Mode. Breaking through costs one segment. |
Fight Mihai | Watch for his sword attacks, fog and teleportation. Stay alert to his position when the fog hides him. |
The nighttime well inspection costs one segment. The daytime bookcase interaction also costs one segment. After the boss, the broken sword becomes the starting piece for Forge It Anew.
1,000 XP and the Broken Sword of St. Mihai.
Anca's book investigation is one lead to this quest. An independent route begins at the well in the courtyard north of Svartrau Cathedral at night. Inspect the boards, drop down and crouch through the opening into the cave. Focus Mode highlights the dead body and pouch beside it; inspect them for the Thief's Note. Night Terrors completes for 75 XP after one segment and starts A Monk and a Saint immediately.
Triggering Night Terrors can close A Dubious Gift, the cathedral ritual court activity. If that activity is a priority, use the daytime cathedral investigation instead of starting from the well.
