Overview

Wraith in the Frost is a House Lanford faction quest in Crimson Desert, set within the frozen ruins of Hoenmark in the northern Hernand region. The quest centers on an ancient dark entity, Beloth the Darksworn, a wraith who once ruled a prosperous kingdom for a millennium through wicked power before the land was swallowed by an unnatural frost. When Kliff arrives, the ominous presence clinging to the ice must be confronted and extinguished for good.

The quest is part of the broader White Blizzard questline and is widely considered one of the most punishing optional encounters in the game. Players cannot reach it until Chapter 6 of the main story is fully cleared, and even then Beloth can one-shot underprepared adventurers through sheer frost damage. Successfully completing it rewards the complete Armor of the Shadows set along with the Frost Spike weapon, making it a prestige endgame trophy for players chasing the best cold-climate gear in Pywel.

Quest Details

How to Start

Complete Chapter 6 of the main story. The quest cannot be triggered before this milestone, and the boss only spawns at the start of Chapter 7. Optionally, visit the Argent Peaks Outpost east of Hoenmark Ruins and speak with the wounded soldiers for context on the frost curse. This step is skipped automatically if you already met those NPCs earlier in the story. Travel to Hoenmark Ruins in northern Hernand and engage Beloth directly to trigger the Wraith in the Frost objective.

Walkthrough

1. Prepare cold-weather gear. Equip the Kuku Cold-Resistant Armor or the full Shadow Armor set if already obtained, plus a frost-resistant cloak such as the Frostcursed Plate Cloak or the Reindeer Coat.

2. Stock frost-resistance food. Cook Hearty Fish Porridge (540 HP, Ice Resistance Lv 5), Hearty Clear Soup (420 HP, Ice Resistance Lv 2), or Fishball Soup (340 HP, Ice Resistance Lv 4).

3. Travel to Hoenmark Ruins in the frozen northern stretch of Hernand. Fast-travel to the nearest waypoint and approach on foot through the blizzard zone.

4. Stop at Argent Peaks Outpost east of Hoenmark to hear the wounded soldiers' warnings about the wraith (optional).

5. Enter the circular pillar-ringed ruin arena where Beloth materializes. Walking into it locks you in for the boss encounter.

6. Defeat Beloth the Darksworn using the strategy below.

7. Loot Beloth's remains to claim the full Armor of the Shadows set and the Frost Spike weapon.

Beloth the Darksworn Boss Fight

The arena is a circular ruin floor in Hoenmark, ringed with stone pillars that can be used to break line of sight.

Key Mechanics

• Frost aura: Constant cold damage drains stamina and slows movement. Frost resistance gear is mandatory.

• Ice-based attacks: Relentless frost-infused melee combos and freezing elemental strikes that slow movement and apply damage over time.

• Heavy armor: Visible damage numbers are low. Many hits are needed to deplete his health.

• One-shot potential: With low frost resistance, many of Beloth's attacks kill in a single hit.

Recommended Strategy

• Use single heavy attacks to interrupt and stagger Beloth before he chains long combos. Long light-attack strings are inconsistent and riskier.

• Keep frost resistance food active at all times.

• Use pillars to break line of sight when stamina is low.

• Beloth was not nerfed in patch 1.00.03 and remains one of the hardest optional bosses.

Rewards

Tips

• The Helm of the Shadows is the only piece that must come from Beloth. The other four armor pieces can be looted from hidden chests in Hernand (Everfrost Cave, Frostclaw Cave, and two other locations), so you can pre-stack four of five Shadow set pieces before the fight for a significant advantage.

• Ten frost resistance is the recommended threshold, but six is doable with full Shadow Armor, a Reindeer Coat, and maxed ice-resistance food.

• Do not attempt before finishing Chapter 6 completely. Skipping this gate softlocks the encounter.

• Light-attack combos are a trap. Commit to heavy-attack stagger windows.

• Bring multiple stacks of healing food. Beloth's frost aura chips you constantly between attacks.
