Wild Ginseng
April 7, 2026 at 06:16 AM
Added seed extraction, camp farming strategy, spirit cap mechanics, and Research Institute connection
Wild Ginseng is among the rarest medicinal herbs in Crimson Desert. It comes in various shapes and sizes, with its value increasing the longer it has been growing in the ground. Prized by herbalists and alchemists alike, Wild Ginseng belongs to the Mushrooms and Herbs category of gatherables and provides a powerful health restoration effect when processed through alchemy. Beyond its alchemy uses, Wild Ginseng is also a critical resource for raising the Spirit stat past its initial cap.

Wild Ginseng appears as rare spawns in remote and hard-to-reach areas across Pywel. Foraging for Wild Ginseng requires patience and willingness to explore off the beaten path.
Mountain Caves: Secluded cave openings and sheltered rock formations occasionally harbor Wild Ginseng.
Deep Forest Hollows: Remote areas of dense forest far from any settlement are another possible location.
Cliff Ledges: Hard-to-reach ledges on cliff faces sometimes have Wild Ginseng growing in sheltered pockets of soil.
Unlike standard Ginseng, which grows near the Scholastone Institute, Wild Ginseng has no single concentrated spawn area. Treat each discovery as a windfall rather than a reliable source. For a consistent supply, use the camp farming method described below.
Rather than relying on rare wild spawns, players can cultivate Wild Ginseng at the Greymane Camp farm for a sustainable, renewable supply. This is the recommended method for accumulating the large quantities needed for Spirit upgrades.
When you have Wild Ginseng in your inventory, select it and use the Obtain Seed option (hold the interact button while inspecting the item). This converts the ginseng into a Wild Ginseng Seed that can be planted. Any crop in the game can have seeds extracted the same way, including Abyss Cells, corn, and other harvestables.
After planting seeds, use the Fertilizer Sprayer to boost harvest yield to 5 items per plant instead of the usual 1 to 3. The Field Sprayer can also be used to water crops and speed up growth time. Combining both tools lets you harvest up to 5 Wild Ginseng per planted seed on each cycle, turning a handful of foraged ginseng into a large stockpile over a few in-game days.
This same farming technique works for Abyss Cells as well. Extract abyssal seeds from Abyss Cells in your inventory, plant them at camp, and use the Fertilizer Sprayer for maximum yield. This eliminates the need to farm Abyss Cells in the wild entirely.
Wild Ginseng plays a critical role in raising the Spirit stat beyond its initial cap. Spirit is capped at level 8 by default. To increase it further, players must complete the Mysterious Energy of Wild Ginseng Research project at the Pororin Forest Guardians Research Institute. This research takes in-game time to complete, so starting it early in your playthrough ensures you can upgrade Spirit as soon as you have enough materials.
Similar stat caps exist for other attributes: Stamina caps at level 10 (unlocked via Red Seaweed Research at Urdavah) and Health caps at level 11 (unlocked via Abyssal Energy Research at the Scholastone Institute). Starting all three research projects early is highly recommended.
Wild Ginseng produces powerful health restoration elixirs through alchemy. These potions provide significant healing, making them some of the most effective restorative consumables available.
Because of its rarity, Wild Ginseng commands a high sell price. However, given its importance for Spirit upgrades and high-quality elixirs, selling it is rarely advisable.
Start the Wild Ginseng Research at the Pororin Forest Guardians as early as possible. Research projects take in-game time, and you do not want to be waiting when you are ready to upgrade Spirit.
Extract seeds from every Wild Ginseng you find rather than using them directly. A single foraged ginseng can produce a seed, which then yields up to 5 more ginseng with the Fertilizer Sprayer.
The Fertilizer Sprayer is the key to maximizing yield. Without it, you get 1 to 3 items per harvest. With it, you consistently get 5.
Camp farming also works for Abyss Cells. Extract seeds, plant, fertilize, and harvest to build a massive supply without ever leaving camp.
