Overview

Veil of the Red Smoke is the concluding faction quest in the Continuing Concern chain for House Roberts in the Duchy of Hernand. After defeating the Crimson Nightmare at Fort Perwin, Kliff must deal with the aftermath and uncover the truth behind the red smoke that had engulfed the fortress.

Quest Chain

Veil of the Red Smoke is the third quest in the Continuing Concern sub-arc of the House Roberts faction quest line. The full Continuing Concern chain consists of:

1. Strange Red Smoke (speak with Count Roberts at Bluemont Manor)

2. The Crimson Nightmare (defeat the boss at Fort Perwin)

3. Veil of the Red Smoke (deal with the aftermath at Fort Perwin)

4. Dissipated Smoke (speak with Count Roberts at Frowde Camp; rewards +100 Hernandian Contribution)

Prerequisites

Before accessing this quest, players must complete the Estate in Dismay sub-arc of House Roberts, which includes five quests starting with First Trial of Trust and ending with The Count's Honor. The Estate in Dismay arc establishes the formal alliance between Kliff and Count Roberts.

Walkthrough

After defeating the Crimson Nightmare in the preceding quest, Kliff must investigate the aftermath at Fort Perwin. The red smoke that had engulfed the fortress begins to dissipate, and Kliff must clear out remaining bandits and uncover the source of the supernatural disturbance. Completing this quest leads directly into the Dissipated Smoke conversation with Count Roberts at Frowde Camp.

Preparation Tips

• Defeat enemies in Fort Perwin to obtain the Crude Devil Mask, which provides Confusion Immunity and protects against the red smoke's disorienting effects.

• The Force Palm ability is highly effective against the Crimson Nightmare and remaining enemies. Each Force Palm hit increases the stagger gauge significantly.

• Bring Hearty Grilled Meat (crafted at bonfires using Fine Meat from hunting deer) for healing during extended combat.

• Use the Grindstone at the camp outside Fort Perwin to increase weapon damage before engaging.
