Enhanced with detailed golden sword puzzle mechanics from video guide, added Scholastone location context, expanded step-by-step with power activation and focus shot pad targeting, added common mistakes section
The Vault of Vengeance is an Abyss Island puzzle located in the Scholastone skylands. It is part of the Path of Providence chain of abyss challenges that tests players with laser traps, precision target shooting, and power restoration. The vault's primary reward is the Golden Greed Sword (commonly referred to as the Golden Sword), a unique weapon that pairs well with the Golden Greed Set.
The progression path through the Path of Providence is: Spire of the Stars, Sanctorum of Insight, Secret Garden, then Vault of Vengeance. Each puzzle builds on skills learned in the previous one, with the Vault of Vengeance serving as the final and most complex challenge in the sequence.
The Vault of Vengeance is accessed via the Skybridge from the Secret Garden in the Abyss. You must complete the Secret Garden puzzle first before the Skybridge to the Vault of Vengeance becomes available. The vault sits within the Scholastone skylands area, which itself becomes accessible after progressing through the Scholastone Institute main story mission.
Nature's Grasp (Nature's Grasp) to lift the heavy stone door blocking the vault entrance
Focused Shot (Focused Shot) to mark and hit multiple targets simultaneously. This skill is essential for disabling the laser grid protecting the Golden Greed Sword
Axiom Force (Axiom Force) to move power modules, batteries, and Power Cores onto their pedestals
Force Palm (Force Palm) / Force Current (Force Current) to lock components into place and activate the central cog
When you arrive at the vault entrance, do not approach the front door directly. Instead, look around the corner to the left of the door to find the power activation point. Activate it to restore power to the area. Without this step, the mechanisms inside will not function.
Use Axiom Force to move the Power Cores onto the square pedestals near the entrance.
Fire arrows at the two yellow targets before their timers expire. You need to perform a double focus shot to hit both targets in quick succession. This opens up the area in front of the vault door.
Use Nature's Grasp on the large stone door to lift it and enter the vault.
Inside the vault, you will find a chamber filled with moving lasers and a podium in the center holding the Golden Greed Sword. The lasers block direct access to the sword. Do not walk into the laser beams, as they deal significant damage.
Stand at the doorway entrance to the laser chamber. Do not step inside.
Enter Focused Shot mode by drawing your bow and activating Focus to slow down time.
Look up at the walls and locate the four glowing circle pads (yellow bullseye targets). Tap R1 on each of the four pads to mark them one at a time.
Once all four targets are marked, release the shot. Kliff will fire multiple arrows simultaneously, hitting all marked targets at once.
If successful, the laser grid deactivates completely. Walk to the center of the room and grab the Golden Greed Sword from the podium.
If you do not have Focused Shot unlocked yet, the game will prompt you to learn it during this puzzle, as marking multiple targets is required to proceed.
After claiming the Golden Greed Sword, the platform beneath the podium lowers, giving you access to the lower level of the vault. This area contains additional laser obstacles and mechanical puzzles.
Use Aerial Force Palm (jump then press R3 twice) to triple-jump past the laser obstacles on the lower level. Watch the laser patterns carefully and time your jumps to pass through gaps when they appear. Sprint and slide through openings when the timing is right.
Grab the power module with Axiom Force and place it in its slot, then lock it in place using Force Palm or Force Current.
Guide the battery into its socket with Axiom Force and secure it with Force Current to restore the Abyss connection.
Climb to the center cog and apply Force Palm to it. This activates the cog and officially completes the Vault of Vengeance puzzle.
Walking into the laser chamber: Many players instinctively step into the room to get a better angle on the targets. Stay at the doorway entrance. You can mark all four pads from the entrance without taking any laser damage.
Trying to shoot targets individually: The four target pads must all be hit nearly simultaneously. Regular arrows fired one at a time will not work because the pads reset before you can hit them all. You must use Focused Shot to mark all four, then release a single volley.
Missing the power activation: The power point is around the corner to the left of the front door and is easy to overlook. If the mechanisms inside are not responding, go back outside and check for the power activation point.
Rushing through lower-level lasers: The laser beams on the lower level follow set patterns. Observe their movement before attempting to cross. Sprint and slide through gaps rather than trying to run straight through.
If you do not have Focused Shot yet, you will learn it during this puzzle when prompted to mark multiple targets.
Watch the laser patterns carefully on the lower level. Sprint and slide through gaps when the timing is right.
The Golden Greed Sword pairs well with the Golden Greed Set armor pieces. If you are building toward that set, this sword is a natural fit.
You can revisit the Vault of Vengeance after completing it if you want to collect any trade goods or materials you missed on your first run.
