Overview

The End of Greed is the third and final quest in Chapter 2: Golden Greed. It follows the Hernand in Chaos quest and concludes with a climactic boss fight against Kailok the Hornsplitter at Unicorn Cliff. After completion, the story progresses to Chapter 3: Howling Hill.

Chapter Context

Chapter 2 centers on the corruption of the Goldleaf Merchant Guild in Hernand. After uncovering the guild's role in destabilizing the city, Kliff strikes a deal with Shakatu to eliminate Kailok in exchange for an Abyss Artifact and support for the Greymanes.

Objectives

The Dark Veil

1. Investigate the Goldleaf Merchant Guild headquarters in Hernand.

2. Confront the merchants regarding the recent disturbances in the city.

The Flames of Greed

1. Speak with a nun who requests your assistance.

2. Travel southeast to Unicorn Cliff to find a healer's burning house.

3. Rescue the trapped person inside using Nature's Grasp. You have a two-minute time limit and must avoid fire damage while navigating the interior.

Kidnapped Healer

1. Travel to the Hernand Highlands.

2. Defeat the bandits and rescue Hubert the Healer.

Rebellion or Revolution

1. Locate Shakatu and defeat his men until he appears.

2. Accept Shakatu's proposal: eliminate Kailok the Hornsplitter in exchange for an Abyss Artifact and Greymane support.

Cheers Echoing From the Edge

1. Return to Unicorn Cliff for the final confrontation.

2. You do not need to fight every guard along the way. Focus on reaching the boss arena.

3. Defeat Kailok the Hornsplitter (see boss strategy below).

Boss Fight: Kailok the Hornsplitter

Kailok is an agile fighter who uses both melee combos and ranged wind slash attacks. During this fight you will learn the Evasive Roll ability, which lets you dodge out of attack range after taking a hit.

• Wind Slash: Kailok fires a projectile in a straight line. Dodge sideways rather than rolling straight back.

• Red Glint Attacks: When Kailok's weapon flashes red, counter with Force Palm to stagger him.

• Unblockable Slam: When your shield flashes red, Kailok is about to leap into the air and slam down. A single dodge roll avoids the impact. Punish him with a heavy attack immediately after he lands.

• Stagger Strategy: Heavy attacks and skill abilities build his stagger gauge (the yellow bar beneath his health). Once it fills, press R1+R2 (PlayStation) or RB+RT (Xbox) for a powerful finisher.

After Kailok falls, Shakatu takes over as branchmaster of the Goldleaf Merchant Guild.

Tips

• Refine your weapons and armor at the blacksmith in Hernand before heading to Unicorn Cliff.

• During The Flames of Greed, move quickly through the burning house. The fire deals continuous damage, so do not linger.

• Prioritize stagger buildup against Kailok rather than trying to chip away at his health with light attacks.

• Use the Evasive Roll as soon as you learn it. Rolling immediately after being hit creates distance and avoids follow-up strikes.
