Tariv Cloth Gloves

Major expansion: added Attack Speed mechanics, weapon DPS significance, acquisition guide, refinement stats, and build recommendations

Tariv Cloth Gloves are an Epic Gloves piece in Crimson Desert. Created by the Tariv Sorcerers, these cloth gloves provide the highest Attack Speed bonus of any gloves in the game at max refinement (Lv.3). This makes them the only gloves that provide a meaningful DPS increase for weapon-based builds, since Attack Speed is a global stat that affects all weapon animations.
In Crimson Desert, the Attack and Critical Rate stats on gloves only apply to unarmed combat. This means that any Attack or Crit bonuses from your gloves (including Abyss Cores socketed into the glove slots) do not affect weapon swings at all. If you are using a weapon, those stats are wasted.
Attack Speed is the exception to this rule. Unlike Attack and Critical Rate, Attack Speed on gloves applies globally to all weapon attacks. Every rank of Attack Speed from any source speeds up all combat animations equally, regardless of which weapon you have equipped. This makes Tariv Cloth Gloves the only pair of gloves in the game that directly increases weapon damage output, because their Attack Speed Lv.3 at max refinement translates to faster swing animations across every combo.
Gloves made by the sorcerers of Tariv. Tariv permits purely academic study of darkness, but some sorcerers have been tempted and slipped into forbidden domains.
Property | Value |
|---|---|
Type | Gloves |
Rarity | Epic |
Defense | 0 (base) to 12 (max refinement) |
Attack | 9 (base) to 27 (max refinement) [unarmed only] |
Attack Speed | Lv.3 at max refinement (highest of any gloves) |
Abyss Core Slots | 2 |
The Attack stat of 9 to 27 only applies to unarmed combat and grappling. For weapon users, the Attack Speed bonus is the only stat on these gloves that contributes to weapon DPS.
Community testing with a two-handed sword light attack combo shows that Attack Speed provides significant early gains but has severe diminishing returns. At Lv.3 Attack Speed (the amount provided by max-refined Tariv Cloth Gloves), the full combo completes roughly 20% faster than at Lv.0. Since the first few ranks of Attack Speed provide the largest improvement, these gloves represent excellent value for any weapon build.
The Attack Speed bonus from the Tariv Cloth Gloves stacks with Attack Speed from other sources such as Shields, food buffs from Cooking, and Gale or Swift Abyss Cores socketed into other equipment slots.
The Tariv Cloth Gloves are sold by the tailor in the village of Tariv, located in northern Demeniss. On the world map, Tariv sits roughly north of the midpoint between the M and E in the word "Demon" on the map label. The area may appear red or hostile on the map, but it is typically accessible and the shop functions normally.
The tailor sells the Tariv Cloth Gloves and the Tariv Cloth Cloak without any reputation requirement. However, additional pieces of the Tariv cloth set (the Tariv Cloth Boots and the Tariv Cloth Attire) require 100 reputation with the NPC before they become available for purchase.
Copper Pouches: Giving copper pouches to the tailor earns approximately 5 reputation each. Pouches are commonly dropped by enemies throughout Demeniss.
Crafting Books: Crafting a book you have already read earns approximately 10 reputation each. This is the faster method if you have spare materials.
Once you reach 100 reputation, you also gain the option to add the tailor's inventory to your Greymane Camp shop, allowing you to purchase Tariv cloth pieces without returning to the village.
The Tariv Cloth Gloves are one of four pieces in the Tariv cloth armor set. As cloth armor, the set trades raw Defense for utility stats like Attack Speed and Movement Speed. The lower defense is generally not a major concern: during the early and mid game, most enemies do not hit hard enough for the difference to matter, and in endgame content, a few extra ranks of defense rarely change the outcome.
Piece | Key Stat | Reputation Required |
|---|---|---|
Attack Speed Lv.3 | None | |
Ice Resistance Lv.3 | None | |
Movement Speed Lv.2 (Lv.3 at max) | 100 | |
Movement Speed Lv.1 | 100 |
Tariv Cloth Gloves are considered the best-in-slot gloves for any weapon build that wants to maximize damage output. Since Attack and Critical Rate on gloves only affect unarmed strikes, Attack Speed is the only offensive glove stat that transfers to weapon combat. No other gloves in the game provide as much Attack Speed at max refinement.
For Abyss Core socketing on these gloves, avoid Attack or Critical Rate cores in the glove slots, since those will only benefit unarmed combat. Instead, consider defensive cores, utility cores, or cores that provide passive effects like health regeneration.
