Sweet Potato Sapling is the plantable form of Sweet Potato. It can only be sown in a Seedbed for Plants, which itself requires Fertile Soil to craft. After planting a single seed the crop matures in 1h 10m of real-time growth, then yields the outputs listed in the harvest table below. Replanting is self-sustaining: every harvest refunds at least one seed.
Planting requirements for the Seedbed slot. Growth time is fixed regardless of player skill level or in-game season.

Sweet Potato is a Coastal Jungle crop. Every island with a Coastal Jungle biome hosts a few plants, which means the starter island and the first handful of islands the player unlocks all have their own spawns.
Because Windrose generates each island's layout per save, the exact grid coordinates never repeat run to run. The signal that does stay constant is the point-of-interest icon. Sweet Potato plants sit inside very small unnamed POIs, the kind that do not show up on the world map until the player walks over them. Approaching the edge of one of these micro-POIs is usually enough to trigger the discovery chime.
Walk the Coastal Jungle sand-to-grass border. Small POIs cluster along this transition zone.
Harvesting a wild plant has a chance to drop a Sweet Potato Seedling alongside the root.
The plants themselves look like short, leafy clumps against the jungle undergrowth. They do not glow or chime, so visual scanning is more reliable than audio.
A Seedbed at base removes the need to island-hop for Sweet Potato. Build a Seedbed from the Farming tab (it requires Fertile Soil mined from Foothills Ancient Farms), plant any Sweet Potato Seedlings dropped from wild plants, and the crop returns on a fixed cycle. This is the same Seedbed system used for Cornmeal, Flax, and Cocoplum, so one set of plots can cover multiple crops in parallel.
The foothills trip for Fertile Soil is a one-time unlock: the soil carries over between crops, and additional mining runs only matter when the player expands the number of Seedbeds at base. Coastal Jungle runs for wild Sweet Potato Seedlings stay useful in the meantime as cheap insurance against empty plots.
