The Red-Feathered Raptor is an exotic temporary mount in Crimson Desert. Classified as a Ground type mount, the Red-Feathered Raptor is a dinosaur-like predatory creature distinguished by its bright red plumage, sharp talons, and swift, aggressive movement style. Among the temporary mounts, raptors are widely considered the fastest ground-based option, making them highly sought after for hit-and-run traversal.
Raptors were prominently featured in pre-release trailers for Crimson Desert and remain one of the most visually striking creatures in the game. Like all Fleeting Companions, the Red-Feathered Raptor cannot be registered at a stable or summoned on demand. It must be obtained fresh each time the player wants to ride one.
At Level 1, the Red-Feathered Raptor has the following base stats:
Stat | Value |
|---|---|
Health | 400 |
Stamina | 300 |
Attack | 25 |
Evade | 50 |
Movement Speed | 1 |
Attack Speed | 1 |
Climb Speed Multiplier | 1 |
Swim Speed Multiplier | 1 |
Seats | 1 |
With 400 Health and 300 Stamina, the Red-Feathered Raptor has a solid endurance pool for a temporary mount. Its 25 Attack is modest, but the raptor compensates with raw speed and agility. The 50 Evade is the highest among comparable mounts, reflecting the raptor's nimble movement.
Red-Feathered Raptors are found in the Crimson Desert region, particularly north and east of Tashkalp. They are not wild riderless creatures; instead, they are ridden by hostile NPCs. To claim one, the player must:
Locate an enemy rider mounted on a raptor in the desert badlands.
Defeat or dismount the hostile NPC. Ranged attacks or well-timed melee strikes can knock the rider off.
Quickly approach the now-riderless raptor and press the Ride button before it bolts. The raptor will attempt to flee once its rider falls, so speed is essential.
Unlike predator mounts such as bears or wolves, you do not need to beat the raptor into submission. The challenge lies entirely in dispatching the rider and mounting quickly enough.
The Red-Feathered Raptor is the fastest land combat mount in the game, ideal for hit-and-run tactics. When mounted, Kliff can attack while the raptor dashes in and out of engagement range. The raptor's agility allows it to weave through dense terrain and leap over obstacles that would stop larger mounts.
While on the raptor, the player retains access to their equipped weapon. The combination of the raptor's raw speed and the rider's offensive capabilities makes this mount excellent for striking enemy formations and retreating before reinforcements arrive.
The raptor has no independent attack commands of its own; unlike a bear mount (which can claw and bite on its own), the raptor serves purely as a fast platform for the rider's attacks.
Temporary only: Like all Fleeting Companions, the raptor cannot be stabled, summoned, or saved. Once you dismount, the raptor is gone.
Despawn timer: Community testing suggests raptors despawn within roughly one minute of being mounted, even if you remain on them. This makes them short-duration rides.
No independent combat: The raptor itself does not attack enemies. All damage comes from the rider's weapons.
Cannot be permanently tamed: As of Patch 1.01.00, there is no method to permanently register a raptor at a stable. Community-extracted game data suggests raptor registration may be added in a future update.
Use ranged weapons like a bow to snipe the enemy rider off the raptor from a distance, giving you more time to mount before it runs.
The raptor excels at clearing distance quickly. If you need to escape a losing fight, mounting a raptor and sprinting away is one of the most reliable escape options in the game.
Pair the raptor's speed with hit-and-run tactics against larger groups of enemies. Dash in, land a few strikes, then sprint out of range before they can retaliate.
