Muskan is a boss encountered at The Bonepit in Crimson Desert. Described as the seemingly undefeated warrior of The Bonepit, he challenges all comers to battle in a fight that "seems to never end until one of the warriors falls down." Muskan is a human, but his size is far greater than that of a normal person. Standing roughly eight feet tall, he fights entirely without weapons, relying on brute strength, lightning-fast fists, and devastating kicks. He is classified as a Humanoid (Brawler) type boss.
Muskan was revealed alongside Walter Lanford and Kearush the Slayer as part of an IGN First showcase in October 2025, which featured 23 minutes of new boss fight gameplay. Among the three bosses, Muskan represents the pure brawler archetype: where Walter Lanford keeps distance with a shotgun and Kearush uses swift, kinetic movement, Muskan closes in and overwhelms with savage force.
Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
Boss Name | Muskan |
Location | |
Type | Humanoid (Brawler) |
Fighting Style | Unarmed: fists, kicks, grabs, choke slams |
Size | Approximately eight feet tall |
Key Mechanic | Fury meter that enables devastating chain combos |
Revealed | October 2025 IGN First showcase |
Muskan uses a mix of punches, kicks, grabs, and a powerful fury-driven supercharge attack. Learning to recognize each move's visual tell is essential to surviving the encounter.
Attack | Description | Counter |
|---|---|---|
Charge and Heavy Punch | Pauses briefly, then rushes forward with a powerful punch. Deals heavy damage on contact | Can be blocked with a shield or dodged. The brief pause before the rush is the tell |
Instant Kick | A fast, powerful kick that knocks the player to the ground if it connects | Dodge to the side. The speed makes it difficult to react to at close range |
Ground and Aerial Kick Combo | Two-part attack: a tripping sweep followed by airborne kicks. Creates a double knockdown if the first hit lands | Avoid the initial sweep to prevent the full combo from connecting |
Knee and Punching Combination | Multi-hit combo starting with a knee strike followed by two to three quick punches | Can be parried. A successful parry leaves Muskan vulnerable to a counterattack |
Grabbing Attack | Muskan attempts to grab the player by the neck. If successful, he slams the player into the ground (choke slam) | Maintain distance or dodge sideways when he reaches forward |
Supercharge Attack | His deadliest attack. Accumulates energy, lunges forward, and delivers multiple punches that launch airborne victims into additional strikes. Tied to the fury meter | Create maximum distance when the fury meter fills. This attack has the longest wind-up but the most devastating payoff |
Muskan has a fury meter that builds over the course of the fight. When it maxes out, he can unleash chains of blows that repeatedly launch the player into the air, extending his combos well beyond their normal length. IGN described this as: "He's able to unleash a chain of blows that repeatedly launch you into the air" when the fury meter maxes out. Managing distance when the fury meter is full is critical. The Supercharge Attack draws from this meter and represents the single most dangerous moment of the encounter.
Be patient. The battle demands patience and timing. Rushing in aggressively leads to getting caught in combo chains
Watch for the brief pause before his Charge and Heavy Punch. That pause is his most reliable attack tell
Parry the Knee and Punching Combination. A successful parry creates the best counter-attack window in the fight
Stay out of grab range. The choke slam deals significant damage and leaves you vulnerable to follow-up attacks
When the fury meter fills, back off immediately and wait for the Supercharge Attack to end before re-engaging
The Ground and Aerial Kick Combo is most dangerous when the first sweep connects. Prioritize avoiding the initial trip
Use lateral dodges rather than backstepping, as his lunging strikes can close distance quickly
Defeating Muskan provides boss equipment tied to his brawler fighting style. In Crimson Desert's boss equipment system, equipping gear obtained from a defeated boss grants access to that boss's signature skill as a usable combat ability. Muskan's drops complement an unarmed or close-quarters combat build.
Muskan was one of three new boss battles revealed during the IGN First coverage in October 2025. The showcase presented 23 minutes of new gameplay footage across three boss encounters. IGN described Muskan as "an eight-foot powerhouse who fights with lightning-fast fists" and noted that "learning how to avoid his lightning-fast fists is the name of the game." He delivers "powerful punches, dive kicks, sweeping kicks, and choke slams." The other two bosses revealed alongside Muskan were Walter Lanford (a quick gunman at Alfonso Estate) and Kearush the Slayer.
The name Muskan may be familiar to Black Desert Online players. In Black Desert, Muskan (sometimes called "Muskan of Madness") is a guild boss who serves as the commander of the Kzarka Shrine priests. Pearl Abyss has mentioned that "small Easter eggs and homages that Black Desert fans might recognize" are scattered throughout Crimson Desert, which is set in the same universe. However, no official source has confirmed whether the Crimson Desert Muskan is the same character or simply a name reference.
