Mechanical Anatomy Research is a faction quest in Crimson Desert, part of the Delesyia National Institute quest series. It is completed by talking to a research assistant and handing over the required components, after which the unlocks listed below become permanently available for the rest of the playthrough. The research itself takes a full day of in-game research time per stage, with a silver cost paid up front. This quest takes place in the Delesyia region.

Mechanical Anatomy Research is the second node unlocked at the Delesyia National Institute, the final research site in the game. The research assistant is found on the northeastern side of Delesyia near Delesyia Castle, inside the complex shown in the Inside of the Delesyian Institute entry.
The Delesyia National Institute is not accessible until Delesyia Castle is liberated, which happens at the start of Chapter 12: The Abyss, after defeating Golden Star and using Black Star to bring down the floating base. Once you can enter the institute, Mechanical Anatomy can be purchased directly after the introductory basic science node. Expect the usual silver fee and a full in-game day of research time.
This research increases the amount of crafting components dropped by the mechanical enemies that fill the Delesyia region. It does not add any rare item; it is a flat boost to the items you were already going to farm for crafting and upgrading. Relevant drops include:
Drop | Typical Source | Used For |
|---|---|---|
Cogknights and other clockwork enemies | Mid-tier crafting and gear upgrades. | |
Mechanical enemies across Delesyia | Required for high-tier mechanical recipes. | |
Heavier mechanical units | Used for advanced electric crafting and A.T.A.G. upgrades. |
Mechanical Anatomy is widely considered the single most important research at the Delesyia National Institute. Because chapter 12 is built around farming machines, the extra component drops pay off almost instantly. If you are upgrading gear, crafting any of the late-game mechanical items, or refining the A.T.A.G. mech, rush this research before any of the other Delesyia nodes.
Complete the introductory basic science research first; you cannot jump straight to Mechanical Anatomy.
Run component farms in Delesyia only after this research is done. Every mechanical kill you make before unlocking it gives reduced drops.
Combine with the Mineral Excavation Efficiency Research from Gorthak for a full pipeline: more ore from mining, more mechanical parts from killing, and enough materials to keep the A.T.A.G. topped up.
The drop bonus also applies to Machina Knights and similar reskinned mechanical enemies, not just cogknights.
You learned about the mechanical anatomy research.
