Expanded skill stub with detailed controls, combo potential, unlock guide, tips, and skill progression

Lightning Surge is an elemental skill in Crimson Desert, available to Kliff. It belongs to the Health (Red) branch of the skill tree. When activated, Kliff releases electrical current into the ground, creating a field of electricity around his position that damages and staggers all enemies within range. The skill functions as both an offensive area-of-effect attack and a crowd-control tool, making it one of Kliff's most effective options for dealing with groups of enemies.
Lightning Surge is one of the lightning-elemental skills unlocked through the Abyss exploration system. Like other elemental skills, it consumes Spirit rather than Stamina, providing an alternative damage source when Stamina is running low. The electrical field persists briefly around Kliff, hitting enemies that are already in range and those that move into the zone during its active frames.

Lightning Surge becomes available after unlocking Lightning Lv. 1, which requires completing the puzzle at the Courtyard of Precision in the Abyss. The path to the Courtyard runs through the Spire of the Stars (accessible during Chapter 4), then through the Sanctorum of Insight, the Secret Garden, and the Vault of Vengeance before reaching the final puzzle area.
Once Lightning Lv. 1 is unlocked, it applies to all three characters simultaneously. Kliff gains Lightning Surge, Damiane gains Lightning Strike, and Oongka gains Lightning Pulse.

Beyond combat, Lightning Surge has practical utility in the open world. The electrical field can interact with conductive objects and materials, making it useful for gathering resources like Bismuth Ores that require electrical conduction to extract. When you encounter mineral deposits with a sparking or shimmering visual effect, use Lightning Surge nearby to dislodge the materials.
Lightning Surge works best as a mid-combo crowd-control tool. Position yourself in the center of an enemy group using Charge or Vault, trigger Lightning Surge to stagger the cluster, and then follow up with Spinning Slash or Turning Slash to deal heavy damage to the staggered enemies. The stagger window from Lightning Surge is generous enough for a full heavy attack or charged skill.
Once Imbue Element is unlocked, you can apply lightning properties to your physical skills as well, creating a full lightning-themed combat sequence where every hit carries electrical damage and stagger potential.
Lightning Surge is an area-of-effect skill, so it rewards aggressive positioning. Run into the middle of enemy groups before triggering it to hit as many targets as possible.
The 10 Spirit cost is very low. Use Lightning Surge liberally whenever you need to create space or interrupt enemy attacks.
The stagger effect from Lightning Surge can interrupt enemies mid-attack, making it a defensive tool as well as an offensive one. Trigger it when surrounded to buy time for healing or repositioning.
Spirit regenerates while in Focus mode. Enter Focus between combat encounters to top off your Spirit for the next fight.
Lightning Surge is particularly effective in enclosed spaces like dungeons and caves, where enemies tend to cluster in narrow corridors.
Use Lightning Surge near conductive environmental objects to solve puzzles and gather rare resources like Bismuth Ores.
