Kuku Watcher Pack

Major expansion with crafting details, material farming guide, combat usage, boss stun strategy, and related packs

The Kuku Watcher Pack is a Rare Inventory item in Crimson Desert, widely regarded as one of the strongest utility packs in the game. Sometimes called the Turret Backpack, it deploys two autonomous mini-watchers (combat drones) that attack enemies on their own, providing constant fire support without any input from the player. The Kuku Watcher Pack is crafted at the Kilnden Workshop using the Blueprint II: Kuku Watcher Pack, which is obtained by clearing the Sanctum of Atonement during the Witch of Kindness quest line.
A specialized tactical tool crafted from a modified Kuku Pack. It deploys two miniature Watchers to provide combat support. Once active, they scout the perimeter and open fire without mercy on any enemies they discover to protect their master. The two drones operate independently: one fires quick burst shots similar to a machine gun, while the other fires a wide spread pattern comparable to a shotgun. Together they provide overlapping fields of fire that cover both concentrated and area damage.

The Kuku Watcher Pack blueprint is earned by completing the Sanctum of Atonement, one of the sanctum dungeons tied to the Witch of Kindness faction quest line. To begin this quest chain, travel to Pailune and locate the mountain crevasse where a tent is set up. Light the lantern nearby and speak with Bari, the Witch of Kindness, to initiate her quests.
The Sanctum of Atonement is located southwest of Haunted Hill in the Hernand region. Use a nearby Abyss Nexus or your mount to reach it. Inside, you must defeat all enemies until the green progress bar is fully depleted. Companions can be summoned to help with the fight. Upon completion, you receive Blueprint II: Kuku Watcher Pack.
Note that you will also need the base Kuku Pack before you can craft the Watcher variant. The Kuku Pack itself is unlocked during Chapter 4 alongside the Kuku Pot.
The Kuku Watcher Pack is crafted at Grimnir's Kilnden Workshop, west of Hernand Castle. All four materials must be gathered before crafting can begin. Below is the full recipe and where to farm each component.
Material | Quantity | Source |
|---|---|---|
3 | Manne mechs in southeast Delesyia | |
Abyss Cell: No. 0 | 1 | False wall enemies (use Focused Force Palm) |
300 | Collected via Kuku Pack in Gorthak / SE Delesyia | |
Multiple | Mech enemies in Gorthak and SE Delesyia |
Electrical Components are harvested from the larger Manne mechs found in southeastern Delesyia. The smaller mechanical enemies in this region do not drop them; you specifically need the bigger mech-type enemies. After defeating a Manne mech, use Axiom Force (R3) on the downed chassis, then press Seal (Triangle/Y) to pull out the Electrical Component. This harvesting step is easy to miss if you are not aware of it. You need three in total.
The Abyss Cell: No. 0 is obtained from false wall enemies. To break through these hidden walls, you need the Focused Force Palm ability, which is unlocked during Chapter 4: The Price of Knowledge. Look for shimmering or slightly off-colored walls that indicate a breakable surface.
A recommended farming location is Anvil Hill, east of Hernand, on the northern side near where rockworms roam. The Anvil Hill Gust Cave contains a false wall blocked by an Abyss Cell. Use Focused Force Palm to punch through the barrier and claim the Abyss Cell: No. 0 inside.
Gathering 300 Clockwork Insects sounds daunting, but it is surprisingly fast with the right approach. Equip the Kuku Insect Gatherer's Pack and head to the Gorthak area, which has a dense population of clockwork bugs. Activate the backpack (L2 + R2), then simply jog around the area. The pack vacuums up nearby insects at an extremely fast rate, and you can collect the full 300 in a matter of minutes.
Note that clockwork insects are different from regular insects used in Alchemy. The base Kuku Pack collects clockwork bugs (mechanical insects found around Gorthak and southeast Delesyia), while the Kuku Insect Gatherer's Pack is optimized specifically for gathering regular insects for alchemy recipes.
Small Batteries are the easiest material to farm. They drop regularly from mech enemies around Gorthak and southeastern Delesyia. These same enemies also drop Cogwheels and Lubricant, so you will naturally accumulate Small Batteries while farming Electrical Components from the larger Manne mechs in the same region.
Once crafted and equipped via the D-pad gear menu, press L2 + R2 to deploy the two mini-watchers. The drones float out from Kliff's backpack and automatically target and attack nearby enemies. There is effectively no cooldown on the ability; you can recall and redeploy the drones freely by pressing the same input again. This makes the Kuku Watcher Pack a true "activate and forget" tool.
Burst Fire Drone: One of the two watchers fires rapid burst shots, concentrating damage on a single target in a pattern similar to a machine gun.
Spread Fire Drone: The second watcher fires a wide spread pattern, similar to a shotgun blast. This provides area coverage and helps deal with groups of enemies.
Autonomous Targeting: Both drones pick their own targets and fire independently. The player does not need to aim or direct them.
Invincible: The mini-watchers cannot be destroyed by enemies. Once deployed, they remain active until recalled.
Ranged Capability: The drones can target and hit flying enemies, making them valuable against airborne threats that melee weapons struggle to reach.
While the mini-watchers do not deal massive damage to regular enemies on their own, their true strength becomes apparent in boss encounters. The constant barrage of projectiles from both drones builds a surprising amount of stagger on bosses, and when combined with the player's own attacks, the cumulative stun buildup can become overwhelming.
Against many bosses, the Kuku Watcher Pack can create what players call a "stagger-lock" situation. The continuous stream of fire from the drones keeps applying stun buildup even while the player is dodging, repositioning, or recovering stamina. This creates a serious imbalance in the fight, because the boss spends more time staggered and less time attacking. For bosses with tight attack windows, having the drones chip away at the stun meter during the boss's recovery animations can be the difference between a clean kill and a drawn-out struggle.
The ranged nature of the drones also means they can apply stun against flying bosses or enemies that spend time airborne. This is particularly useful in fights where the boss moves out of melee range frequently, since the drones continue attacking at range while the player waits for an opening.
Deploy the drones at the start of every boss fight. Since there is no cooldown penalty, there is no reason to hold the ability in reserve.
The drones complement aggressive playstyles especially well. While the player pressures a boss with melee combos, the drones pile on additional stagger from range.
If you are struggling with a particularly difficult boss, try equipping the Kuku Watcher Pack purely for its stun contribution. Even if you play defensively, the drones will steadily build stagger on the boss.
When exploring areas with flying clockwork insects (such as around Gorthak and southeastern Delesyia), the drones can clear the annoying airborne bugs without the player needing to engage them directly.
Farm all the mechanical materials in one trip. Head to southeastern Delesyia and focus on the larger Manne mechs for Electrical Components, while picking up Small Batteries, Cogwheels, and Lubricant from the smaller enemies along the way.
The Kuku Watcher Pack belongs to the Kuku System crafting tree and is closely related to several other packs:
Pack | Rarity | Function |
|---|---|---|
Common | Base pack that collects clockwork bugs. Required prerequisite for the Watcher variant. Also useful in combat around Gorthak and SE Delesyia, where it vacuums up annoying flying insects. | |
Rare | Collects regular insects for Alchemy. Activates for a few seconds with a short cooldown. Extremely fast insect collection rate. | |
Rare | Provides a jetpack-style boost for aerial traversal. | |
Rare | An enhanced EMP pack for disabling mechanical enemies. |
