Greater Firepower is the second sub-chapter of Chapter 10: Counterattack in Crimson Desert. It covers main quests 143 through 146 and takes place entirely within the Gorthak region of Delesyia. The sub-chapter begins immediately after the Secret Weapon arc concludes with Clockwork Insect Clash and ends with a cutscene that closes Chapter 10 and transitions into Chapter 11.
After Kliff and the Ironflame Orcs clear the mechanical insects from Gorthak in Clockwork Insect Clash, attention turns to the ironworks itself. The power plant must be brought back online, defended against a second insect swarm, and then used to destroy the enemy sky galleons overhead. The sub-chapter ends with a boss encounter and a final ride alongside Valgash before the next chapter begins.

Beating Heart begins automatically after completing Clockwork Insect Clash. The power plant at Gorthak Ironworks has been cleared of enemies and now needs to be restarted.
Head to the Thermal Power Plant machine on the ground floor of the main building at Gorthak Ironworks. Activating it requires three steps performed in sequence:
Pull the left handle. Locate the handle on the left side of the Thermal Power Plant machine and interact with it.
Kick the cube. On the bottom right of the machine, find a cube with a circle marking. Aim your lantern at it (L1 / LB / CTRL), then kick it with the action button (Triangle / Y / F). A lever will drop from the chute above.
Hold the lever. Pull the newly dropped lever and hold the action button for several seconds without tapping it repeatedly. Keep pressure applied until the gas ignites and the generator powers on. A cutscene plays when the startup succeeds.
After the cutscene, follow Valgash upstairs to the fortress wall. The quest completes upon arrival.
None.
Once the power plant is running, a fresh wave of clockwork insects closes in on the facility, attracted by the hum of the machinery. You must defend the generator long enough to charge the ironworks' giant railgun, then use it to destroy the sky galleons overhead.
A 180-second (3-minute) defense phase begins. The A.T.A.G. hangar is near the power plant; pull the lever on the right side of the green-lit gate to open it, then mount the robot mech.
Watch the minimap for red indicators that show the approach direction of incoming insects.
Use the A.T.A.G.'s Gatling Gun to shoot enemies before they reach the turbine.
Do not hit the reactor: your own shots deal significant damage to it.
Some insects will break through. This is acceptable. The phase succeeds as long as you destroy more than 50% of the incoming swarm.
The final wave includes larger balloon enemies carrying mines. Use the A.T.A.G.'s rockets to destroy these in a single hit.
If the timer expires without the reactor being destroyed, the cutscene triggers automatically. Failure allows a retry from the hangar entrance.
After the defense phase, jump down to the large railgun platform at the base of the ironworks. Interact with the wheel on the left side of the railgun to take control of it.
Use the D-Pad to aim the railgun at the first zeppelin.
Press R2 / RT to fire. One well-aimed shot destroys each vessel.
Repeat for the second sky galleon to complete the quest.
None.
When one of the sky galleons is destroyed, a glowing red object falls from the wreckage to the ground in northern Gorthak. Travel to the quest marker to investigate.
Approach the fallen object. A cutscene reveals it is not a piece of wreckage but a mechanized predator. You are immediately pulled into a boss fight on foot, regardless of whether you are currently mounted.
Marni's Clockwork Mantis is a large mechanical praying mantis with a single health bar. Despite its imposing size, it is described as one of the more manageable bosses in the later chapters because it does not block or counterattack your offensive combos.
Attack | Danger Level | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Yellow laser beams | High | Primary threat. Can one-shot at lower max health. Multiple consecutive lasers are especially dangerous. |
Melee combos | Low | Deals minimal damage. Evading these creates openings for counterattacks. |
When the mantis performs a melee combo, evade to the side and position yourself behind it.
Follow up with heavy attacks. The Tauria Curved Sword with the Nature's Echo skill performs well here.
For yellow laser beams, move in wide circles around the boss to dodge them. The beams track in a straight line, so lateral movement avoids them reliably.
Some attacks can be parried, but dodging is the safer choice since a number of attacks cannot be parried.
Repeat the evade-reposition-heavy attack cycle until the boss is defeated.
None.
With the mantis defeated and the sky galleons destroyed, the giant cannon at Gorthak Ironworks has been exhausted defending the facility and is no longer usable for an assault on Marni's flying fortress. A direct confrontation is now the only option remaining. Lingering Shadow is a short, story-driven quest that closes Chapter 10.
Find Valgash at Krall Foundry. He is stationed near his horse in front of a dark tent in the Delesyia region. Initiate dialogue to begin.
Speak with Valgash at Krall Foundry.
Ride alongside him up the road.
Walk with him through the camp.
A cutscene triggers, concluding Chapter 10 and introducing The City of Steel, the opening quest of Chapter 11.

Before entering the A.T.A.G. hangar for Invaders from the East, ensure your consumable stocks are full. The mech will take heavy fire and may be destroyed before the timer ends, leaving you to fight on foot.
During the A.T.A.G. defense phase, prioritize the balloon enemies in the final wave first. Their mines deal high burst damage to the reactor if they get close.
The Frozen Hearted Predator boss is dismountable, so make sure you have your preferred melee weapon equipped before approaching the quest marker.
Lingering Shadow has no combat. Use the ride alongside Valgash to recover stamina and organize your inventory before Chapter 11 begins.
The Leofric Musket rewarded from Lingering Shadow is a ranged weapon and a useful upgrade if your current firearm is below this tier.
