Unlock Oongka

Gentle Sound of Flowing River is a side quest that permanently unlocks Oongka as a playable character alongside Kliff and Damiane. The quest becomes available in Chapter 8 while you are playing as Kliff, and it must be completed before the main storyline concludes. If you skip it, Oongka remains locked for the rest of the playthrough.

Fishing Walkthrough

1. In Chapter 8, leave Pailune and travel south-east of the city to the river-side fishing spot.

2. Meet Oongka at the riverbank.

3. Go fishing with Oongka. No special tackle is required; the minigame is scripted.

4. Finish the conversation. Oongka delivers the closing line about calm water helping settle the mind.

5. Rest or fast travel once. Oongka will then appear at Calphade Castle and join your roster permanently.

Tips

• Do not blow past this quest. Oongka is a high-ceiling melee character with a wrestling-style moveset that fills a gap neither Kliff nor Damiane covers.

• Triggering the post-quest "rest or teleport" step is what actually moves Oongka to the castle. If he does not show up, sleep at any inn or bonfire and return.
