Black Dye

Full rewrite from stub with detailed quest walkthrough from verified sources
Black Dye is one of the ten rare uncraftable grayscale dyes in Crimson Desert. It produces a true black color when applied to equipment at any Dyehouse. Because it cannot be crafted at a Cauldron, it must be purchased from a hidden vendor that only appears after completing a specific quest chain in the Varnia region.
Black Dye is one of the most sought-after colors in the game due to its deep, true black appearance that cannot be replicated by any craftable dye recipe. It pairs particularly well with Pure White Dye for high-contrast armor designs.

Obtaining the Black Dye requires completing a multi-step quest chain centered around the bandit settlement of Muiquun, located southeast of Tommaso in the Varnia region near Tashkalp. The process involves liberating the settlement, eavesdropping on a conversation, and running a wagon delivery job for a local fence.
Liberate Muiquun: Travel to the bandit settlement of Muiquun and defeat all enemies occupying it. This triggers the Raiders in Muiquun quest line. Clear every hostile NPC in the area to fully liberate the settlement.
Report to the Guard: After liberating Muiquun, travel to the nearby city south of Tashkalp and speak to the guard NPC. Confirm that the settlement is safe and collect your 50 silver reward for clearing it.
Reset the Town: Fast travel to a nearby campfire or rest to trigger a town reset. When you return, Muiquun will be repopulated with regular civilian NPCs going about their daily business.
Pick Up the Lawless Market Quest: Return to Muiquun and look for a new quest prompt. In the southern part of the village, near a red wall, you will find NPCs having a private conversation. Lean against the wall to trigger the eavesdrop prompt and listen in on their discussion about a black market operation.
Speak with the Fence: After eavesdropping, head to the Lawless Market area within the settlement. Locate the Fence NPC and accept his wagon delivery task.
Steal and Deliver 3 Wagons: The Fence asks you to steal wagons and bring them to him. You must deliver a total of three wagons (one on the first run, then two more). Wagons can be found on roads as random spawns throughout the region. You can equip a mask while stealing to avoid detection. Stick to paved roads during delivery because wagons are fragile and can break if you ride over rough terrain or collide with obstacles.
Wait for the Vendor: After delivering all three wagons, you cannot immediately purchase the dye. Fast travel away or rest at a campfire. There may be a waiting period of approximately 12 in-game hours before the vendor spawns.
Buy Black Dye: The Back Alley Shop vendor now appears in Tashkalp, selling Black Dye for 37.5 silver. Purchase it and take it to any Dyehouse to apply. Oliver's Dyehouse at the Greymane Camp is the most convenient option since it can apply any dye color regardless of region.
Make sure you have enough silver before starting the quest chain. The dye costs 37.5 silver, and the guard reward only covers 50 silver, so budget accordingly.
When delivering wagons, stay on paved roads to avoid breaking them. Collisions with rocks, fences, or steep terrain will damage the wagon and can fail the delivery.
Black Dye is a one-time purchase. Consider saving it for your best late-game equipment rather than applying it to gear you will soon replace.
Combining Black Dye with the Polished Metal material finish creates a sleek, dark metallic look on plate armor.
Black and Pure White Dye together on different dye zones of the same armor piece create a striking high-contrast look that is popular for knightly builds.
