Ben is the ranch manager at Greymane Camp in Crimson Desert. He oversees all livestock operations at the camp, including animal breeding, feeding, and butchering. Ben is one of six Greymanes recruited during the "A Rumor in Goldleaf Trading Post" faction quest, alongside Conrad, Wynstan, Kamu, Alec, and Ed.
Once Ben arrives at camp, he sets up the ranch facility and becomes the point of contact for all ranching activities. His role is essential to the camp's self-sufficiency, as the ranch provides renewable resources that feed into the cooking and crafting systems.
Ben manages the ranch at Greymane Camp. The ranch gives players a dedicated area to raise domestic livestock including goats, pigs, cows, sheep, chickens, and ducks. Animals produce renewable resources such as meat, milk, eggs, fleece, hides, and bones that feed directly into the cooking and crafting systems.
The ranch initially supports up to 25 animals. Through camp upgrades, this capacity can be increased to 35. When properly managed, the ranching system becomes entirely self-sustaining through breeding, with offspring replacing any animals you slaughter or sell.
Ben is recruited by completing the "A Rumor in Goldleaf Trading Post" faction quest. This quest is part of the Grounds of the Sunrise questline, which becomes available after reaching Chapter 3 of the main story. The quest sends Kliff to the Goldleaf Trading Post to reunite with several scattered Greymane members.
After completing the quest, Ben appears at Greymane Camp. Speak with him to begin the ranch unlock process, starting with the "Field of Abundance" quest.
After meeting Ben, the ranch is unlocked through a series of steps. Ben asks you to dispatch companions to Bloomwood Ranch for a Milk Harvest Mission. This is a dispatch mission where you send your Greymanes to complete it on your behalf. After the dispatch mission finishes, the ranch facility is constructed at camp and becomes fully operational.
At a later point in the game, Ben issues a Greymane Commission called "Ben's Request." This faction quest involves catching wild animals, penning them, and taking them to the butchery at Ben's request. Completing the quest rewards Greymane +50 reputation.
