Add Patch 1.04 Golden Apple loot change details (2026-04-29)
The Baby Hedgehog is a small wild creature in Crimson Desert that can drop a Golden Apple. The interaction is best known as one of the easier ways to source Golden Apples for cooking and quest needs. Patch 1.04.00 simplified the encounter significantly: the Golden Apple is now ordinary loot, no mask is required, no bounty triggers, and lightly threatening the hedgehog with a drawn weapon also produces the drop.

Before Patch 1.04.00, obtaining a Golden Apple from a Baby Hedgehog required stealing it while wearing a Mask, and the interaction could trigger a bounty if witnessed. The patch reclassified the Golden Apple as ordinary loot:
Mask no longer required. The hedgehog drops the Golden Apple to any character that prompts the drop, with or without a stealth disguise.
No bounty. The interaction does not register as theft, so it does not trigger the Wanted System.
Weapon-threat shortcut. Drawing a weapon and lightly threatening the hedgehog causes it to drop the Golden Apple without any need to attack or kill the creature.
Killing is optional. Players who prefer to leave the hedgehog alive can collect the Golden Apple via the threat shortcut and walk away without a kill on the record.
Cleaner Golden Apple farming. The pre-patch stealth requirement was awkward for players who did not regularly use a mask; the post-patch flow is a single weapon-draw interaction.
Useful for completionist runs. The non-violent option keeps Life Challenge progression clean for players targeting trophies that count animal deaths.
No reputation impact. NPC trust and faction standing are no longer affected by Golden Apple farming through Baby Hedgehogs.
