Overview

Ascent I is a standard passive Abyss Core in Crimson Desert. The increased climb speed reduces the time it takes to scale walls, cliff faces, and other climbable surfaces throughout the open world of Pywel.

Climbing is a core traversal mechanic in Crimson Desert, and many collectibles, shortcuts, and exploration objectives are located at the top of vertical surfaces. Faster climbing means reaching elevated positions sooner and spending less stamina on the ascent, since the total stamina drain is tied to time spent on the wall. This makes Ascent I effectively both a speed boost and a stamina efficiency improvement for climbing.

The core fits into both armor and footwear slots, giving players flexibility in where they socket it. Players who want to maximize climbing efficiency can stack Ascent I across both an armor piece and a footwear slot for a more noticeable speed increase.

How to Obtain

Purchased from Witch merchants. Can also be found in supply chests in elevated or mountainous areas, particularly in regions with significant vertical terrain.

Standard Abyss Cores like Ascent I can be acquired from Witches who serve as merchants at various camps and settlements across the world. Check with any Witch merchant when you visit a new area, as their inventory may include this core.

Usage and Strategy

Socket Ascent I into any compatible equipment piece (Armor, Footwear) to gain its Climb Speed Lv 1 bonus. The effect is always active as long as the core remains socketed and the equipment is worn.

Tips

• Socket Ascent I before exploration sessions that involve climbing to collectibles, Sealed Abyss Artifacts, or Abyss Cressets on elevated terrain.

• Faster climbing also reduces stamina consumption per climb, since you spend less time on the wall. This means you can scale taller surfaces before running out of stamina.

• Stacking Ascent I in both armor and footwear provides a bigger speed improvement for dedicated exploration runs.

• Swap back to combat-focused cores before engaging in boss fights or challenging encounters where climb speed is irrelevant.

• Pairs well with Haste I for a full traversal-focused loadout during exploration sessions.
