Thalastrider
September 21, 2026 at 11:42 AM
Added the named characters from the EP02 test notice and the Cologne demo, corrected 凡星 which the EP02 build uses for star rated characters, added the second official Japanese spelling; added the official Mainland site's description of the Thalastrider, the male pronoun it uses, the 风 element badge and the quote, and pointed the named characters at the new Characters page
Thalastrider is the designation used for the player character in Bringer. It is not the name of a creature or a faction. Three separate official channels address the player directly by it, which makes the reading unambiguous.
The reveal trailer narration says "It is time to move forward, Thalastrider."
The official community server description opens with a direct greeting, "Hi, Thalastrider!", before introducing the game.
The official English page biography begins "As a Thalastrider bound by a unique mission, you", where the text is cut off by the platform at that length.
The Chinese form is 海履者, written identically in simplified and traditional script, the Japanese appears in two official spellings, タラッサライダー in the concept site keywords and タラストライダー in the official Japanese channel description, and the Korean is 탈라스트라이더. Unlike Thalassa and Arkiloth, this term is not glossed inline in running prose. Its cross language alignment rests on consistent positioning across the keyword metadata of all four language pages, corroborated by the meaning of the characters themselves, 海履者 naming one who treads the sea. It is treated here as reliable but is a step below the two inline glossed terms.
The studio's announcement overview gives the only description of who the player is: "Playing as a traveler harboring a hidden secret, players will navigate competing factions and ancient mysteries, gradually uncovering the truths buried deep within the world." The official page biography adds that the Thalastrider is "bound by a unique mission".
That is the entire confirmed characterisation. As of 21 September 2026 the protagonist has no announced name, no announced gender, no announced background, and the nature of the hidden secret has not been hinted at beyond the word itself. Nothing states whether the protagonist is a fixed character or one the player configures, and no character creator has been mentioned either way.
The official Mainland site lists the Thalastrider first in its characters section, with the Latin plate THALASTRIDER, an element badge reading 风 (wind), a voice line and the quote “我会牢记,我们最初的愿心”, I will remember the wish we first held. Its description, translated: when the waves of the pure sea carry him back to where it all began, the storm wind of the wish will rise again. He is fated to step into the current of the age, to wake the silent 凡应 and to gather again the scattered 凡星. The Thalastrider's journey has only just begun. The original reads 当净海的浪涛将他带回最初的起点,愿心的洪风将再次激荡。他注定踏入时代洪流,唤醒沉寂的凡应,重聚遗落的凡星。属于海履者的旅程,刚刚开始。
Two things follow. The site uses the male pronoun 他, which is the only official statement of the protagonist's gender, and it presents the Thalastrider as a fixed character with a portrait rather than a configurable one. The line about waking 凡应 and gathering 凡星 uses both the game's own title and the word for its star rated characters as in world nouns, which is the closest the record comes to explaining either.
The Thalastrider does not travel alone. Official combat copy states that "players can seamlessly switch between party members in real time", which confirms both that a party exists and that its members are individually controllable rather than AI companions the player only commands. The EP02 test notice of August 2026 adds the category the game uses for them: 凡星, star rated characters, two of which were handed to testers at 5★. No party size has been stated and nothing describes how members are normally obtained. See Combat for the mechanical side of party switching.
The first version of this page recorded that no character had been named in any language. That was wrong: the official Mainland site carries a roster of eight named characters with Latin name plates, element badges and descriptions, and the [[Characters]] page now records them in full. The table below lists only the names attested outside that roster, in the EP02 test notice of 28 August 2026 and in hands on coverage of the Cologne demo. None of these has an official description or a confirmed match to a figure in the key art.
Name | Script and source | What is attested |
|---|---|---|
绯云 | Simplified Chinese, official EP02 notice | 5★凡星, granted on the third login day of the test |
明泫 | Simplified Chinese, official EP02 notice | 5★凡星, granted on reaching the main quest 座尊之殇 |
逻华 (Luohua) | Simplified Chinese, official EP02 notice; Latin form seen in the Cologne demo | Sender of the daily 逻华的声援赠礼 gift mail during the test. In the Cologne demo, a character shown as Luohua joined the party in the second phase of the boss fight and left in the third |
Nyx | Latin form seen in the Cologne demo; no Chinese form found | The demo opened with Nyx, who looks like a young girl, being consumed by something dark, sprouting wings and mutating into the boss of the demo; she is restored to human form when the boss is defeated |
逻华's own name plate on the Mainland site reads LUO HUA, which settles the pairing with the Luohua of the demo. Nyx has not appeared on any official surface in any language as of 21 september 2026. None of these is the Thalastrider, who has his own roster entry, and the pronoun used for Nyx above follows the demo coverage.
The game's principal key art shows five distinct figures presented as a cast lineup: a young man in the foreground with layered cloth and leather armour and an orange shoulder mantle; a long haired woman with dark feathered plumage at one shoulder; a blonde girl with goggles pushed up on her head and a fur lined hood; a woman with red and pink hair in dark studded leather with a spiked shoulder guard; and a dark haired young man in sleek black segmented armour. None of the five is identified anywhere in the public record, in any language, and nothing states which of them, if any, is the Thalastrider. This wiki does not assign them names or roles.
The words used for the protagonist changed between the game's 2023 debut and its 2025 re presentation in Mainland China. This was a genuine revision made alongside a substantial rebuild of the project, not a translation inconsistency, and the older Chinese material using the old words is still in circulation. One correction to the first version of this page: 凡星 was described here as a superseded 2023 form of address for the player. The EP02 test notice of August 2026 uses 凡星 as a live term for star rated characters (5★凡星绯云, 5★凡星明泫), so it was not retired; its 2023 usage and its current usage simply differ.
Term | Script and region | Era | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
傀人 | Simplified Chinese, Mainland China | 2023 presentation | Superseded. Was the protagonist designation. |
凡星 | Simplified Chinese, Mainland China | 2023 presentation | Superseded. Was how the player was addressed. |
海履者 | Simplified and traditional Chinese | 2025 onward | Current. Corresponds to the English Thalastrider. |
傀人 should not be treated as a current term and should not be translated as "Thalastrider". 凡星 is current but does not mean Thalastrider either; it labels the star rated characters of the party. Material from 2023 may also describe systems that no longer exist, since the project was remade in between. See Development and Titles, Languages and Regional Editions.
