Combat
Everything confirmed about combat and systems in Bringer: party switching, weapon modules, parries, dodges, finishers and toughness, the Bio-Cruisers term, the 海巡兽 and 隆舶 home systems, what the EP02 test build opened, what the Cologne demo showed, and what has still not been shown.
On This Page
Combat in Bringer is described as fast paced, party based action tied directly into the game's narrative pacing. It is important to be clear about how thin the official evidence base is: as of 21 September 2026 the studio's own mechanical statements amount to one paragraph of announcement copy, the official channel descriptions, and the content list in the Mainland EP02 test notice. Everything else on this page comes from hands on coverage of the public demo and is labelled as such. Nothing on this page is a shipped feature, and no official source has published mechanical detail from either of the two hands on demo showings.
The Confirmed Surface
The studio's announcement overview says: "At the heart of Bringer is an experience that combines fast-paced action combat with narrative-driven exploration. During combat, players can seamlessly switch between party members in real time, use different weapon modules, and engage in high-intensity encounters. Mechanics such as parries, dodges, and finishers add tactical depth while making every encounter feel responsive and impactful."

Broken out, that gives the following confirmed items and nothing else:
Real time party member switching. Players can change which party member they control mid encounter, without a menu break. This also confirms that a party exists and that its members are directly playable rather than AI companions.
Weapon modules. The phrase "different weapon modules" is used without any definition. It is not stated whether a module is a weapon, a component fitted to a weapon, a loadout slot, or a form the weapon changes into. This wiki does not guess.
Parries, dodges and finishers. Named as the mechanics that add tactical depth. No timing windows, resource costs, stagger systems or counterattack rules have been described.
High intensity encounters. The framing used by the studio for for the pacing of fights.
Integrated pacing. The overview adds that "story sequences, exploration stages, and combat encounters are tightly integrated, allowing players to remain immersed in the world as the narrative progresses", which implies combat is woven through the story rather than run in separate mission containers.
The game is built on Unreal Engine 5 and the studio describes it as "a 3D action RPG built around an expansive, story-driven fantasy adventure", with storytelling meant to extend "beyond traditional pre-rendered cutscenes". See Development for the production side of that claim.
Bio-Cruisers
Two official English language channels instruct the player to command Bio-Cruisers. The official community server description reads "Command your Bio-Cruisers, explore the tides of Thalassa, uncover hidden secrets, and forge your own destiny", and the official video channel description reads "you will command a variety of Bio-Cruisers". Both use the same capitalisation, the same hyphenation and the same verb, and the two channels are independent of each other, so this is a real player facing term rather than a stray phrase.
In English the term is never defined, depicted or mentioned again. It is not, however, English only. The Chinese and Japanese counterparts are official. The traditional Chinese channel description carries the same sentence as the English one and reads 「身負獨特使命的你,將成為海履者,駕馭形態各異的海巡獸,踏上探尋命運的旅程」, and the Japanese channel description reads 「特別な使命を背負うあなたは、タラストライダーとなり、多種多様なバイオクルーザーを駆使して、運命を探る旅へと踏み出します」. Read side by side with "As a Thalastrider bound by a unique mission, you will command a variety of Bio-Cruisers and embark on a journey to uncover your destiny", the alignment is Bio-Cruisers to 海巡獸 (traditional) and 海巡兽 (simplified), with the Japanese a straight transliteration, バイオクルーザー. 形態各異 and 多種多様 both say the creatures come in many forms, which matches "a variety of".
What the studio has still not done is connect Bio-Cruisers to the Arkiloth. 海巡獸 and 隆舶 are different words on the same official channels, and no source equates them, so this wiki keeps them apart. "Command a variety of Bio-Cruisers", 形態各異 and 多種多様 all say there is more than one kind, which is the only structural hint the phrase carries.
The Party
A party exists and its members are individually controllable, but nothing beyond that is confirmed. No party member has been named, no party size has been stated, and there is no information on recruitment, relationships, class roles, skill trees, elemental affinities or synergy between members. The protagonist, addressed as a Thalastrider, is the only party role the announcement copy mentions. The official Mainland site's character roster gives each of its eight characters an element badge, one of 风, 火, 雷, 光 and 暗 (wind, fire, lightning, light, dark), which is the only hint that an element system exists; nothing explains what an element does. See Characters.
What the EP02 Test Build Opened
The second Mainland closed test, EP02, ran on PC from 28 August 2026 to 4 September 2026, and its opening notice is the first official text to name systems, places and characters. It is a list of names rather than a description of mechanics, so this section records the names and nothing more. All terms are simplified Chinese from the Mainland notice, and no official English form exists for any of them.
Term | Type | What the notice says |
|---|---|---|
海乱之礁 | Story milestone | The main story was opened up to this point for the test |
心相洪流 | Mode | Opened progressively as testers advanced |
鸣渊极炼 | Mode | Opened progressively as testers advanced |
遗落残响 | Mode | Opened progressively as testers advanced |
证途等级 | Progression | A level that gates rewards; reaching level 8 unlocked the daily mail, level 20 completed the login rewards |
凡星 | Character category | Star rated party characters; the notice grants 5★凡星绯云 on the third login day and 5★凡星明泫 on reaching the main quest 座尊之殇 |
同行之愿, 共鸣之愿 | Items | Handed out in daily mail, ten of each per day for seven days, alongside 星焰之痕 and the currency 舶金 |
The notice also names two main quests, 故人重逢 and 座尊之殇, and a daily gift mail called 逻华的声援赠礼, which makes 逻华 the first character named in official text. What a 凡星 is beyond a star rated character, what the three modes contain, and what the wish named items do are all unstated. The notice describes the build as an in development version whose story, settings, art quality and numbers do not represent the final game. See Closed Tests and Public Demos.
Official System Notes
Around the EP02 test the studio's community account published a 履海知途 series of short system notes, the first official mechanical statements beyond the announcement paragraph. Translated: on combat, facing an enemy on the pure sea means wearing down its toughness; when its strength is spent it falls into a state where it cannot guard, and a fatal blow can be dealt; beyond that, the crystal power of the 凡星 must be used well to gain the upper hand. The original reads 在净海直面敌手,要懂得消磨对手的韧性。当敌人的气力被耗至极限,便会陷入无力招架的状态,此时便可对其施以致命一击。除此之外,战场之中还需运用凡星们的结晶力量。 On navigation: the sea road is dangerous, danger and opportunity travel together, and a sailor must learn to read the signs of each waters and what can be used there.
On the 海巡兽: the Thalastrider's own 海巡兽, named 奥璐璐, is an important companion for the sea; it can be fitted with different armaments, companions can be assigned to posts on it to form a transport team, and back at home a 海兽工坊 workshop builds the cannon and ammunition needed for the next voyage. On the home: the 隆舶家园 is the player's own 隆舶; building it up and repairing its facilities raises its prosperity so that more residents can live there, and the wishes of residents and companions must be valued to deepen everyone's bond with the 隆舶.
Press material circulated on the day EP02 opened, and carried verbatim by several outlets, adds a layer that the studio's own notes do not: a four member squad in which each character has a distinct class role; a toughness break, parry and perfect dodge system in which breaking the toughness shield triggers an execution, a precise parry drops toughness quickly, and a perfect dodge branches into a special follow up; closed loop, multi level box garden style maps rather than one open world; fitting the 海巡兽 with armaments to fight creatures on the sea; and a movable 隆舶 home with resource exchange and character interaction. That text reads as studio supplied and matches the system notes, but it did not appear on a first party surface, so it is recorded as press material.
Demo Build Observations from Cologne
The early hands on demo shown in Cologne between 26 and 30 August 2026 was played and described by press on the show floor. Nothing below is an official statement, the build was explicitly pre beta, and any of it may change. It is recorded because it is the only account of the game being played, and it is consistent with the announcement copy above.
Input (PC) | Action as observed |
|---|---|
Left mouse button | Basic attack |
Right mouse button | Dodge |
E | Skill |
Ultimate button | Ultimate ability, charged by attacking, with no cooldown once the gauge is full |
R | Timed parry, available only when a prompt appears on specific enemy attacks |
F | Finisher on a staggered enemy, prompted after repeated successful parries |
1 and 2 | Switch between party members, each with separate skills and ultimate gauge |
The demo was a single boss fight in three phases. It opened with a cinematic in which a character named Nyx, who first appears as a young girl, is dragged by something dark and viscous, sprouts wings and mutates into a monster; the fight against that monster began immediately afterwards. The first phase was played with one character and taught the basics. In the second, Luohua, seen until then only in cutscenes, joined as a switchable party member. In the third, Luohua left the party and the boss attacked in long sequences that had to be parried in succession. Defeating it restored Nyx to human form, after which the player could walk the arena, talk to characters and pick dialogue choices, with the camera closing in on faces during conversation. Parries were described as a choice rather than a block: dodging a parryable attack was always possible, but parrying opened follow up windows.
What Has Not Been Shown
This section exists because the absences here are large and easy to misread as omissions. As of 21 September 2026:
No gameplay footage has been released on the international channels. The single video on the global video channel for the game is a two minute forty eight second cinematic, and the looping video on the official concept site is a montage with no interface, no heads up display and no on screen text. Nothing in either video evidences a system. That statement holds for the international channels only: the Mainland channel's EP02 promotional video of 6 August 2026, two minutes and fifty one seconds long, is captioned by the studio as recorded in game from an in development build, 游戏内录,开发中版本, and had passed four million views by 21 September 2026. It is the one official piece of gameplay footage on record.
No interface has been described officially, so there is no confirmed information about health, resources, cooldowns, targeting or camera behaviour.
No progression system has been described. The EP02 notice names a 证途等级 level, star rated characters and a currency called 舶金, without describing any of them; experience, equipment, upgrades and crafting are absent from the record.
No enemy has been named or described officially. The one boss encounter on record is the mutated Nyx in the Cologne demo, known only from hands on coverage.
No difficulty options, accessibility options or control schemes have been stated.
No multiplayer, cooperative or online component has been announced, and equally none has been ruled out.
No business model has been stated. The EP02 notice hands out star rated characters and items named 同行之愿 and 共鸣之愿, which shape the reading, but the studio has not said what any of them cost or how they are normally obtained.
Hands on demo builds were played by the public at a Chinese games expo in July 2026 and at a games event in Cologne, Germany between 26 and 30 August 2026. Those sessions are the only occasions on which anyone outside the studio and its test participants has played the game. See Closed Tests and Public Demos and Release and Platforms.
