Chang'an

Chang'an was the capital of the Tang Empire during the historical period Blood Message is set in. In the game, it is the ultimate destination of the messenger's journey: the city the crucial message has to reach.

Narrative Function

Chang'an is less a level the player walks around and more a goal looming over the whole campaign. The political weight of 'get this message to Chang'an' is what justifies every risk the messenger takes and every danger he puts his son through on the road.
