Sea shanties were one of the most celebrated features of the original Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced brings the full set back. Every shanty from the 2013 game returns, joined by ten brand-new songs composed and recorded for the remake. The Jackdaw's crew sings them while sailing the open ocean, tying music directly into the rhythm of naval travel.

Returning Shanties
All 35 sea shanties from the original game return in Resynced, scattered across the Caribbean for the crew to discover through exploration. The development team confirmed that every original shanty is included rather than a curated subset.
New Songs
Ten new sea shanties were produced specifically for Resynced, raising the full collection to 45 songs. Unlike the returning shanties found through general exploration, the new tracks are tied to specific quests and activities, so completing certain content is how players add them to the rotation. The individual titles of the new songs were not confirmed ahead of the July 9, 2026 launch, but they are original compositions created for the remake rather than repurposed from other sources.
Woodkid Reimagined Track
French artist Woodkid, known for cinematic and orchestral music, contributed a reimagined track to Resynced's shanty collection. The track he reworked is the traditional shanty "Leave Her Johnny," one of the most recognizable songs from the 2013 original, given a darker and more cinematic interpretation. Woodkid produced the reworked version, and it debuted alongside a trailer shown during the June 2026 Summer Game Fest opening showcase before releasing on streaming services. His contribution brings a distinctive voice to the musical expansion while staying faithful to the recognizable melody fans associate with the original.
Score Foundation
Resynced builds its musical identity on the foundation of the original game's score, which was composed by Brian Tyler for the 2013 release. Woodkid's reimagined contribution sits alongside that returning material rather than replacing it, expanding the soundtrack while preserving the recognizable themes that fans of the original associate with sailing the Caribbean.
Shanty Wheel
Resynced adds a shanty wheel that lets players control which song the crew sings rather than leaving it entirely to chance. Pressing down on the directional pad opens the wheel to pick a specific shanty on demand. Pressing right on the directional pad cycles randomly through the available songs, and holding right turns off spontaneous singing altogether for players who prefer to sail in quiet. The wheel makes the full collection of returning and new shanties accessible at any time during open-ocean travel.
Shanties During Sailing
Shanties play while the Jackdaw is underway on the open ocean. The crew's singing fills the quiet between naval encounters and marks long voyages across the Caribbean. The system is ambient: shanties start and cycle naturally during extended sailing, and their presence reinforces the culture and camaraderie of life aboard a pirate vessel.
