Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced is a ground-up remake of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, developed by Ubisoft Singapore and published by Ubisoft. It releases on July 9, 2026, for PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro), Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game is also available via cloud streaming. This wiki covers Resynced specifically, not the 2013 original.

The remake was revealed on April 23, 2026, and is built from the ground up on the latest generation of Ubisoft's Anvil engine, the same engine generation used for Assassin's Creed Shadows. The team at Ubisoft Singapore rebuilt the game's systems, combat, stealth, and naval gameplay while preserving the core story of privateer Edward Kenway and his journey through the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy.
What Is Resynced
Resynced is not a remaster. It is a ground-up rebuild: assets, code, and many of the underlying systems were recreated rather than upgraded. The game uses physically based rendering, raytraced global illumination, modernized water simulation, dynamic weather, and a seamless open world with no loading screens. The story is mostly intact, though several elements have been reworked or expanded, and the original Abstergo modern-day sequences have been replaced with entirely new ones.
Key Confirmed Changes
Combat reworked around precise parries and shorter combo chains, with a dedicated perfect parry mechanic, chained takedowns, and visceral finishers.
The Hidden Blade is no longer available in open combat; it is restricted to stealth and contextual kills.
Naval combat gains new secondary weapons, enemy ship alliance systems, three new recruitable Jackdaw officers, and optional ship pets.
Stealth features an Observe mode extending Eagle Vision, variable-speed crouching, and salvageable tailing and eavesdropping missions.
Parkour is more fluid, with manual jumps, side ejects, height-gaining back ejects.
Original lead writer Darby McDevitt contributed two new scenes and one amended scene, including a new scene with Edward's wife Caroline.
Multiplayer is removed. Freedom Cry DLC is not included. Mission replay is removed.
Ten new sea shanties have been added alongside all returning originals, with a reimagined track by artist Woodkid.
Modern-Day Story
The remake replaces the original 2013 game's Abstergo office sequences with optional "What If?" rifts hidden across the Caribbean. These rifts explore alternate versions of Edward Kenway's life and keep the modern-day layer optional and secret-driven. Resynced also adds eight new endgame missions against the pirate hunter Robert Miller. See new story content for detail.
Platforms and Release
Resynced launches July 9, 2026. It is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A PS5 Pro version offers higher fidelity, advanced ray tracing, and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution 2.0 upscaling. Cloud streaming is also supported.
