Initial version (2026-07-12): launch performance, critical reception, and launch issues
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and was Steam Deck Verified at launch. This page covers the game's commercial performance and critical reception. It documents the Ubisoft Singapore remake, not the 2013 original.
Ubisoft reported two million copies sold on the first day of release. On Steam, the remake reached a peak of roughly 99,000 concurrent players within its first day, which Ubisoft described as the highest concurrent player count ever recorded for an Assassin's Creed game on the platform. That peak placed it above other recent entries in the series on Steam.
Resynced launched to generally favorable reviews and was widely described as the best-reviewed Assassin's Creed game since the 2013 original, ranking among the higher-rated entries in the series. Praise centered on the reworked naval combat and the visual overhaul delivered by the latest generation of the Anvil engine. Criticism focused on the removal of the original modern-day Abstergo sequences, which Resynced replaces with optional What-If rifts, and on the addition of a paid reward track and in-game store. Opinion on the reworked combat was split, with some players preferring the simpler system of the 2013 original.
At launch Ubisoft acknowledged several issues and said fixes were rolling out. On PC, cutscenes could be capped at 30 FPS when Raytracing, BVH, or Terrain Quality was set to Ultra High, with a workaround of resetting the graphics preset. Some territories reported localization and voice-over problems, and a few players initially could not access their local language pack. Full details are on the system requirements and performance page.
