11Every territory in AION 2 has a Monolith, and every territory hides Empyrean Traces. Finding a Trace and resonating it at the Monolith raises the Monolith's level, and Monolith levels pay out rewards and permanent stat bonuses. The system is introduced through the story: both factions reach a Hero Quest called Empyrean Monolith at level 16.223+34MonolithTerritoryFactionTraces collectedVerteron MonolithVerteronElyosEmpyrean Trace: VerteronAltgard MonolithAltgardAsmodianEmpyrean Trace: AltgardEreshkigal's MonolithReshanta (the Abyss)BothEmpyrean Trace: ReshantaNew Monoliths in Eltnen and MorheimEltnen, MorheimElyos, AsmodianTraces scattered across the two Chapter 1 territories45The Monolith and Trace names above are the ones the game uses. NCsoft's English press releases use the forms Monoliths and Empyrean Trace.5667How Resonance Works7889The official guidebook describes the Monolith as content unlocked by character level and quest progress, placed in Elysea, Asmodae and the Abyss. A Monolith grows through resonance: each resonance consumes Empyrean Traces and raises the Monolith's level, and the number of Traces needed rises as the level climbs. Level rewards include stats, items and currency. Traces are scattered across the world and are picked up by interacting with them (F).9101011Monolith panelWhat it showsLevel informationThe Monolith's level and the Traces needed for the next oneLevel-up effectsThe effect gained at each resonance levelMilestone rewardsThe reward list for each resonance level reachedResonanceSpends the Traces you hold to resonate with the Monolith1112Monolith levels can be shared with other characters on the same server through inheritance. The receiving character must first interact with the Monolith of each region; after inheriting, it collects the same level rewards.12131314Rewards up to Level 3014151516Player guides give level 30 as the top resonance level of a home-territory Monolith, and the Korean service gates a Trace conversion on reaching it. Player-compiled totals from launch (November 2025, before later Monolith changes) for levels 1 to 30 list Action Power (행동력), Stones of Wisdom (지혜의 돌) that grant extra skill points (112 in all), 30 Amulet of Revelation enhancement scrolls, 11 Key: Hidden Cube, 20 Soul Codex: Reset, divine stat points, and appearance rewards; the figures are player-compiled, not published by NCsoft. Player guides note that the Amulet of Revelation enhancement scrolls come only from Monolith rewards, which ties Traces to gear progression. Player route maps count 560 Traces in each faction's home field.16171718How the Monolith Changed18191920The Korean service has reworked the system several times since launch. The global service has not announced changes of its own as of October 2, 2026.20212122Date (Korean build)ChangeDecember 3, 2025Monolith level bonuses were reworked. The Verteron and Altgard Monoliths gained additional stats, while Ereshkigal's Monolith in the Abyss gave those up and switched to PvP stats: PvP attack, defense, accuracy, evasion, critical hit and critical hit resistance.December 3, 2025Each Trace recovered in Verteron or Altgard now counts as four instead of one, and characters who had already collected Traces were credited three more per Trace. A new recipe converts one Verteron or Altgard Trace into 50 Enhancement Stones, up to 1,680 conversions per server. Empyrean Trace content was also made easier.December 17, 2025Trace Inheritance: collection progress can be shared between characters on the same server through the Monolith, and each character then uses the shared Traces to raise its own resonance level. Rewards from Monolith achievements were slightly reduced.December 24, 2025Characters whose Verteron or Altgard Monolith has reached level 30 can convert a spare Trace into ten Power Shards (봉혼석), up to 1,680 conversions per character.January 2026Uncollected Traces are shown on the world map and minimap. Three appearance rewards from the Monolith became Special grade.February 2026The opposing faction's Traces are no longer shown on the world map and minimap.March 25, 2026New look for the Kibelisks and Monoliths of the Abyss bases.July 1, 2026New Monoliths arrived in Eltnen and Morheim with Chapter 1. Their level rewards include enhancement scrolls for the Hero-grade Amulet of Revelation, and a new recipe turns a Unique-grade +10 Amulet of Revelation into the Hero-grade one.September 9, 2026Fixed opposing-faction Trace markers appearing during the Empyrean Monolith episode quest.2223Shortcuts and Transfers23242425Chapter 1 added Daeva Express items on the Korean build. The Empyrean Trace version collects every Trace a character has not yet picked up in the chosen territory in one go, and the paid Exciting First Step package announced with Chapter 1 completes Stronghold, Sealed Dungeon and Empyrean Trace content at once. See Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons for the matching Stronghold and Sealed Dungeon shortcuts.25262627When a character moves server on the Korean service, its Monolith levels and Trace progress move with it.27282829On the Korean service the Stronghold and Sealed Dungeon Express tickets are sold by the Wind Breeze Merchants for Quna; see Strongholds and Sealed Dungeons. On the global service NCsoft has not published Monolith changes of its own as of October 7, 2026, and its September 30, 2026 shop and Daeva Pass notices do not list any Daeva Express item.29303031Achievements31323233AchievementRequirementVerteron Monolith / Altgard MonolithReach level 5 on your faction's Monolith (six tiers)Ereshkigal's MonolithReach level 3 on the Abyss Monolith (five tiers)Traces Left in Verteron / Traces Left in AltgardCollect your territory's Empyrean Trace five times (seven tiers)Traces Left in the AbyssCollect Empyrean Trace: Reshanta five times (seven tiers)3334Not the Same as Domination Monoliths34353536The Korean build's Spacetime Rift: Domination mode also uses Monoliths: three stand in and around each Stronghold under attack, and all three have to be destroyed for the Stronghold to fall.
