Material Conversion (물질 변환; no confirmed English name for the system yet) is the recipe menu of AION 2 that turns one set of items into another. It sits next to crafting and Transfer Crafting, and almost every gear system feeds through it: equipment vouchers become gear, fragments become stones, old gear becomes material for new gear. Recipes are grouped into tabs such as Equipment, Special and Consumables. The recipes on this page come from the Korean service's patch notes and official item database, checked on October 7, 2026; item names are the global client's where it has them.

How It Works

• Items in the character and server warehouses can be used directly without moving them to the inventory (January 28, 2026).

• Gear bound to another character cannot be used as a conversion material (January 28, 2026).

• Recipes that ask for unenhanced gear also accept enhanced gear, with a confirmation window (March 18, 2026). A warning appears when the material carries enhancement, breakthrough, potential, manastones or Theostones (June 17, 2026).

• Since July 15, 2026, a recipe can take several pieces of equipment at once, shows how many results the selection makes and shows its success chance. The July 29, 2026 update added Select All and an Include Enhanced Gear switch.

• Some recipes have weekly or per-server limits, and some only succeed at a stated chance; NCsoft publishes the conversion odds on its probability page.

• Since April 8, 2026, gathered materials made through conversion come out bound.

Draconic Crafting Materials

The Draconic crafted gear lines take materials that conversion produces and recycles. Since July 1, 2026 the old horn, hide and scale drops of Expeditions and Sanctuaries are merged into Balaur's Essence and Radiant Balaur's Essence (the global client's names for 용족의 정수 and 찬란한 용족의 정수), which convert into whichever Draconic material a recipe needs. Old Sanctuary gear converts into the materials for the next Draconic tier: Lava Heart weapons and guards into Genesis and Nemesis Dragon Lord materials (May 27, 2026), Lava Heart armor and accessories or the new Expedition's vouchers into the armor and accessory materials (July 1 and August 12, 2026), and Liberated White Night weapons and guards (해방된 백야; provisional) into the materials for the [진] Genesis and Nemesis Dragon Lord tier (September 9, 2026).

The seven Wrathful materials (Wrathful Mind, Will, Ego, Wish, Sublimation, Belief and Flame) are the key Draconic drops. Since September 9, 2026 the older Expeditions drop only bound copies, while Hall of Illusion, Azure Breath Island, Citadel of the Fallen Daeva and Consumed Deus Research Base drop all seven in bound and tradable forms, and Chalice of Muspel drops all seven bound.

Potential Stones

The Amplify materials for equipment potential (잠재력 증폭석) come from converting dungeon equipment of the same tier or higher and the same category; a higher-tier stone can also be converted down. See Enhancement and Breakthrough.
