Whistles are a small family of Legendary miscellaneous consumables in Windrose that summon a temporary pet animal companion. Three whistle variants are currently confirmed in the item database, all of them Legendary rarity and all of them designed around a short-duration summon rather than a permanent tame.

How Whistles Work

Blowing a whistle spawns the summoned animal at the player's position. The summon fights alongside the player, attacking targets the player engages, and despawns after its duration expires. The summons are treated as their own companion slot and do not count against the food or drink buff stacks, so whistles can be used on top of any other pre-fight loadout.

Exact duration and damage numbers are not exposed in the current item database. Community testing in Early Access 0.10.x places the summon window at roughly a minute before despawn, long enough to cover a single engagement but not a full boss fight.

When To Use

• Crowd pulls: a summoned boar tanks a line of enemies while the player flanks

• Dungeon openers: a whistle at the start of a room lets the pet soak the opening volley

• PvE boarding: a pet adds an extra unit to the boarding team and helps clear the deck faster

Acquisition

The item database flags all three whistles as Legendary miscellaneous consumables without a confirmed crafting recipe. In practice, whistles are chest-loot and reward-drop items rather than craftable supplies, which fits the Legendary rarity tier. Treat them as one-off treats found during exploration rather than a planned consumable to farm.
