The Stormy Sky is a ship sail cosmetic in Windrose, applied at the Shipwright to customize a player ship's rigged sail set. The Stormy Sky design is associated with Blackbeard's Crew.

It is a sail color, the dark grey of an overcast storm, and is purely visual. It does not change a ship's speed, handling, or the underlying sail quality.

How to Apply

Bring the ship to a Shipwright-built Wharf, open the customization menu, and select the matching sail slot. Stormy Sky appears in the option list once the unlock condition (Style Book or stock availability) is met. Applying and swapping the color is free once it has been unlocked.

Where to Find

The Blackbeard ship designs are not sold by a player-facing provisioner. Players obtain the matching Style Books by looting Blackbeard Outposts and capturing Blackbeard ships such as the Blackbeard Brig, Blackbeard Frigate, and Blackbeard Ketch. Once the Style Book is read, the design becomes available at the Shipwright. Because this is loot-gated rather than purchased, it tends to show up later than the faction designs you can simply buy.

Color Cosmetic vs Sail Quality

Stormy Sky only changes the look of your sails. It is separate from the sail quality system, which governs how well a ship actually catches the wind. Quality-tier sail items like Common Sails and Excellent Sails determine sailing performance, while Stormy Sky and the other color designs only set the dye. You can fly the Stormy Sky color on top of any sail quality you have fitted.

Compatible Ships

This cosmetic name appears in the database under the Brig-class entry, but the underlying design is shared across Brig, Frigate, and Ketch hull classes. Once the Style Book is read, the option is available for every ship class your character has built or unlocked.

Stormy Sky is a sail color only. The dark storm-grey suits a menacing pirate look and pairs naturally with Blackbeard flag and hull pieces for a fully themed ship. Since it carries no stat effect, the choice between it and other sail colors is entirely a matter of appearance.
