Railings (Weathered) is a handrail piece that runs along the open edge of a 26 degree staircase, built from Wood. Handrails are cosmetic and safety trim for stairs: they line the exposed side of a flight so the climb reads as finished rather than a bare ramp. Tips

• Build the staircase first, then snap the railing to its open edge; the angle of the railing must match the stair pitch.

• Pair railings on both sides of a wide flight for a symmetrical look, or leave the wall side bare where the stair runs against a structure.

• Railings count as part of the structure above the stair, so demolish them before tearing out the steps they sit on.
