Function and Placement

Railings (Mahogany) are a Handrails piece that runs alongside a 45 degree staircase, closing off the open edge so the climb reads as finished rather than exposed. They are sized to match the mahogany staircase, so they sit flush against Stairs (Mahogany) along the same slope. The dark mahogany finish suits a more decorated interior or a captain's residence where the rougher wood tiers would look out of place.

The cost is double that of the simpler beams and pillars, reflecting the larger railing piece, but it is still only Wood, so a full staircase can be trimmed out cheaply.
