Marksman Set

Add comparison note explaining when Flibustier beats Marksman for firearm hybrids
Marksman Set is the ranged specialist armor. Its 2-piece slashes movement stamina costs, and its 4-piece adds +15% Ranged damage. Together they are the default choice for Pistol, Musket, and Blunderbuss builds that rely on kiting and repositioning.
2-piece: Sprinting, Jump, and Dash consume 30% less Stamina. This directly extends your kiting range and lets you close or disengage more aggressively.
4-piece: +15% Ranged damage. Scales multiplicatively with your Precision or Agility investment.
Five slots. Marksman is a cloth set and upgrades with Linen Fabric produced from Flax Fiber at the Spinning Wheel. Pair this set with farm-based flax cultivation to keep upgrade costs sustainable.
Precision ranged builds — Pistol and Musket main, pairing 4-piece Marksman with Plague Pistol or Drake's Double-Barreled Pistol.
Agility Blunderbuss builds — Dragon's Breath stacks with the ranged damage bonus.
Kiting playstyles — the -30% movement stamina is universally useful on any ranged or hit-and-run build.
Swamp Pie Epic dish for +20 Precision.
Gazpacho Epic dish for +20 Agility.
Privateer Set 2-piece for +10% crit, a common mix-in.
Marksman pieces read as scout or sharpshooter rather than front-line combatant. The base tier centers a tricorne or slouch hat, a Coarse Fabric doublet crossed by bandoliers, reinforced shoulder guards sized to steady musket and blunderbuss recoil, and loose pants tucked into mid-calf boots built for long traversal. Higher tiers add a hooded cloak and darker Linen or Tarred Fabric panelling, which both camouflages the wearer at distance and signals a committed ranged loadout. The silhouette deliberately avoids heavy plating in order to keep sprint and dash animations fluid.
Any build that pairs a pistol with a one-handed melee weapon (saber, rapier, cutlass, or club) is almost always better served by the Flibustier Set than by Marksman. The reason is coverage. Flibustier's 4-piece +15% one-handed damage applies to both the pistol (which counts as one-handed) and the melee main-hand; Marksman's 4-piece +15% ranged damage only applies to the pistol portion. In a typical fight, the melee swings land far more hits than the pistol shots, so buffing the melee half of the loadout returns more total damage.
Where Marksman still wins. Marksman remains the top set for two-handed firearm builds that do not mix melee at all: a Buccaneer's Friend stand-still sniper kit, a Reliable Musket rapid-fire kit, or a dedicated Dragon's Breath crowd-control blunderbuss setup. In those loadouts, every damage-dealing hit is ranged, so the Marksman 4-piece applies to the full damage output.
The 2-piece is universal. The -30% movement stamina cost from the Marksman 2-piece is useful on almost any build because kiting and repositioning are core to every fight. A common high-performance mix pairs Flibustier 2-piece (attack stamina) with Marksman 2-piece (movement stamina) for total stamina efficiency, sacrificing both 4-piece capstones for a combat economy that rarely runs dry. This is the go-to split for long boss fights and extended boarding runs where stamina management decides the pace.
