Overview

The Folding Screen is a piece of decorative furniture in Windrose. It is a free-standing folding privacy screen with expressive carved detail, part of the elegant cabinet furniture line, and it is listed under the Wardrobes decoration category. Like all decorations, it only takes effect when it is placed inside the radius of a Bonfire. Anything built outside that radius is still placed, but it contributes nothing to your settlement.

Placing the Folding Screen adds +1 Comfort in the Wardrobe category. Comfort is the value that sets the size of your maximum stamina pool and how fast stamina recharges through the Rested buff, so decorating a base or a ship has a direct effect on how long you can fight, sprint, and work. Comfort bonuses in this category do not stack. A second wardrobe of any kind adds no further Comfort, so once one piece from the Wardrobe category is in place you gain more by filling a different category than by adding another of the same type.

Hardwood is the only material the Folding Screen requires, which makes it a cheap way to claim its Comfort category once you have a steady supply of refined wood. The one second build time means it goes up almost instantly at the build site.

The Folding Screen shares its classical look with the other pieces in the elegant furniture line. Because each Comfort category only counts once, mixing pieces from different categories is the fastest way to raise your total:

Placement Tips

• Keep it inside the Bonfire radius shown in the build menu, or it adds no Comfort.

• You only need one Wardrobe for the Comfort point, so spend extra Hardwood on an unfilled category instead of duplicates.

• Decorations count on your ship as well as on land, so a few pieces on deck help keep the Rested buff up before a boss fight or a long sail.

• In co-op, a crewmate who sleeps at your base gets the Rested buff at that base Comfort level, so one well decorated home base benefits the whole crew.
