Overview
As a primitive seat, the Bench with Backrest sits at the bottom of the Seating line. It costs only Plant Fiber, so it is usually the first backed seat a crew builds before unlocking sturdier options such as the Elegant Bench with Backrest or the Luxurious Bench with Backrest. Like the simpler Log Bench and Log Stool, it contributes a single point to the Seats category.
Like every placeable in the Comfort System, this piece only counts toward your shelter rating while it sits inside the Bonfire radius. It contributes a single point to its comfort category, and because bonuses in the same category do not stack, adding a second item of the same category gives no extra benefit. To keep raising comfort you mix one item from each category rather than crowding several of the same kind.

Tips
Because Seats comfort does not stack, build just one seat and spread the rest of your Comfort System effort across other categories. Keep the bench inside the Bonfire radius so its bonus actually applies, and upgrade to an elegant or luxurious seat later only if you want the look, since the comfort value is the same.
