Arborum is the enchanted-material family that gates the late-game crafting tier in Windrose. Every Arborum item is refined at the Enchanting Table from Plague Wood and other Cursed Swamps reagents. The name uses the Latin word for tree, reflecting the supernatural sap that infuses plague-corrupted swamp trees and the way the player turns that corruption into constructive crafting output. The Arborum family feeds Epic-tier weapons, accessories, and armor; without it, no Epic weapon ascension or top-tier armor recipe can be completed.
There are five distinct Arborum items in the launch build, each with its own role:
Essence Arborum is the base ingredient. Smelted from Plague Wood at a Smelting Furnace at a 1:1 ratio, or alternately from a Tainted Mask plus Charcoal at 1:3 (one Tainted Mask plus 3 Charcoal yields 3 Essence Arborum in 20 seconds). Required to build the Enchanting Table and to craft every other Arborum material.
Ingot Arborum is the metal Arborum. Crafted at the Enchanting Table from 1 Mire Metal Ingot + 2 Essence Arborum + 1 Tainted Bile. Used in every Arborum-themed weapon recipe and the Epic ascension chain for accessories.
Fabric Arborum is the cloth Arborum. Crafted at the Enchanting Table from 1 Linen Fabric + 1 Essence Arborum + 1 Tar in 45 seconds. Feeds Epic-tier fabric armor recipes at the Armor and Clothing Workshop.
Hide Arborum is the leather Arborum. Crafted at the Enchanting Table from 1 Crocodile Hide Piece + 1 Essence Arborum + 1 Tar in 45 seconds. Feeds Epic-tier leather armor recipes such as late-game Tracker and Flibustier upgrades.
Bullet Arborum is the firearm projectile. Crafted at the Workbench (Lvl 3) from 1 Ingot Arborum -> 5 Bullet Arborum in 1 second. Adds +30% Critical Damage on crit hits, the strongest single ammunition effect in the firearm roster.
The full Arborum supply chain crosses four crafting stations:
Step 1. Harvest Plague Wood from corrupted Cursed Swamps trees with at least an Iron Axe (Stone Axe will not advance the chop reliably).
Step 2. Smelt Plague Wood at a Smelting Furnace or Large Smelting Furnace into Essence Arborum. Charcoal is required as fuel for the smelt cycle.
Step 3. At the Enchanting Table, refine Essence Arborum into Ingot Arborum (with Mire Metal Ingot and Tainted Bile), Fabric Arborum (with Linen Fabric and Tar), or Hide Arborum (with Crocodile Hide Piece and Tar).
Step 4. Take the refined Arborum to the Armor and Clothing Workshop, the Weaponsmith Workshop, or the Workbench depending on the recipe.
Confirmed Arborum-consuming recipes in the launch build:
Weapons (5 Ingot Arborum each): Plague Halberd, Plague Pistol, Rapier of Devastation, Arboris Saber, Swamp Creature's Tooth.
Tools (5 Ingot Arborum each): Swamp Axe, Swamp Pickaxe.
Accessories: Major Sun Ring (5 Silver + 5 Tumbaga + 5 Ingot Arborum) is the one accessory recipe that uses Ingot Arborum directly.
Ammunition: Bullet Arborum (1 Ingot Arborum -> 5 bullets at Workbench Lvl 3).
Armor: Epic-tier fabric and leather armor recipes at the Armor and Clothing Workshop consume Fabric Arborum or Hide Arborum. Specific Epic recipe lists are still being community-documented; check the workshop crafting UI for the current list.
The single hardest Arborum input to gather is Tainted Bile, which only drops from Plague Crocodiles in the deep Cursed Swamps. A typical Plague Crocodile kill yields 2 Tainted Bile, enough for 2 Ingot Arborum crafts, so the crocodile farm tends to be the gating activity for Arborum supply. Run crocodile loops in parallel with Plague Wood harvesting and Quagmire Powder farming so each Cursed Swamps trip produces all three of the Ingot Arborum inputs.
Disassembly will not refund Ingot Arborum on any of the weapons it crafts. Plan the Arborum budget as a one-way cost rather than a reservoir, and commit ingots only to the two or three weapons your build will actually carry into the late game.
