Ancient Chalices are high-tier contraband relics in Windrose. They are sold exclusively to the Smuggler Buyer at the hidden Smugglers of Port Royal archipelago base, where they are the highest-Guineas-per-item payout in the luxury goods lineup.

Paying in Guineas (rather than Piastres) is what separates Ancient Chalices from the cheaper luxury goods. Guineas are the only currency used to purchase the top-tier Tortuga armor plans and Windrose Naval Tactics from the Smuggler Provisioner, so every Ancient Chalice sold directly feeds the endgame progression path.

How to Find Ancient Chalices

• Loot from the Artifact Chests inside Ancient Ruins

• Rare drops from high-tier Pirate Camps in the Cursed Swamps

• Occasional ship-hold loot on merchant and pirate vessels in the Cursed Swamps region

No Other Buyer Accepts Them

The Brethren of the Coast, Rogue Buccaneers, and People of Tortuga buyers refuse Ancient Chalices and similar luxury/contraband-tier relics. This makes the Smuggler archipelago the only monetization path for the item, which is one of the main reasons players push the Underground Network quest chain early.

Where It Sits Among Luxury Goods

Ancient Chalices belong to the contraband and luxury relics group that the smugglers buy for Guineas rather than Piastres. A Guinea is the premium currency, so even a small Guinea figure is worth far more than a large Piastre sale. Sort your contraband loot before a run so the Guinea items go to the smuggler and the ordinary goods go to a faction buyer.

Guineas earned this way are the gate to the top-tier Tortuga armor plans and Windrose Naval Tactics sold by the smuggler Provisioner, so a chalice stockpile is effectively an endgame savings account.

Stockpile Strategy

Players often find Ancient Chalices before they have access to the Smuggler archipelago. The Underground Network quest is not required to reach a specific character level, so stockpiling these items in a chest at base is a viable pre-quest strategy. A dedicated luxury chest at base saves hours of backtracking once the Smuggler buyer opens.
