Trial Recall

Initial version (2026-08-25)
Trial Recall is the boss rechallenge system in Vindictus: Defying Fate. Every boss in the game's single-player areas can be fought again after it has been defeated, so a first clear does not retire an encounter. The system was documented in the official basic system guide published ahead of the June 2025 alpha test.
A rechallenge is started by interacting with a designated object at a Trial Recall point rather than from a menu. A five-minute cooldown applies after each clear before the same boss can be recalled again. Trial Recall points and the time remaining on them are drawn on the in-game map, alongside campsites, area entrances, key locations and story progress indicators, so locating one does not require exploring the region again.

The alpha build's two regions each carried a full boss ladder, and both sat in single-player content. In the Northern Ruins, that means the named bosses Sharptooth, Shadowfang, Snowskin and Wolftail, closing on the faction boss Gnoll Chieftain Crimsongale. In the Frozen Valley, it means the named Kobold bosses Expedition Captain Imich, Supervisor Eiwoch, Storekeeper Echeloch and Chief Priest Emaighsoch, the faction boss Chimpuu Emuloch, and the universal boss Almas.
Trial Recall is described for single-player area bosses. The co-op Special Mission bosses seen in the alpha, the White Tyrant and the Blood Lord, are entered instead through the mission board in Colhen, which is a separate route into repeatable boss content. See Multiplayer for how those runs differ.
The dev team flagged the rechallenge conditions as subject to change in the official release, and noted that all system names in the guide are temporary. The five-minute cooldown in particular is the kind of value that tends to move between an alpha build and launch, so treat it as the alpha behavior rather than a settled rule.
