This page collects the technical requirements published for Valor Mortis ahead of its October 13, 2026 release. The studio marks the PC figures as provisional, so treat them as a pre-launch target rather than a locked requirement.
Current PC requirements
The PC listing checked on October 8, 2026 gives the following fields for both tiers. It no longer publishes processor, graphics-card, Windows-version or drive-type entries. The older hardware table is retained below as the September 13 listing, rather than presented as the current requirements.
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
Architecture | 64-bit processor and operating system | 64-bit processor and operating system |
Memory | 16 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
Storage | 50 GB available space | 50 GB available space |
The minimum listing still says "TBD for final release". Missing hardware fields do not establish that the earlier processors, graphics cards or SSD requirement have been relaxed; final launch requirements remain to be checked.
Earlier PC hardware targets
Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
Operating system | Windows 11, 64-bit | Windows 11, 64-bit |
Processor | AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-11700 | AMD Ryzen 7 7700 or Intel Core i7-13700 |
Memory | 16 GB | 16 GB |
Graphics | AMD Radeon RX 6700 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super | AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE or Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 |
DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
Storage | 50 GB available space | 50 GB available space |
Drive type | Solid-state drive required | Solid-state drive required |
Two details are easy to miss. The solid-state drive is stated as a requirement at both tiers rather than a recommendation, and the storefront's own note still reads that the specification is subject to change for the final release. As of September 13, 2026 the listing carries that caveat.
Memory does not increase between tiers. The step up is processor and graphics only.
What Has Changed Since the Playtest
The October 2025 pre-alpha playtest asked for a Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i5 8600K, an RTX 2070 or RX 5700 XT, and 8 GB of memory, targeting 60 frames per second at 1080p on the low preset. The September 13, 2026 target doubled the memory and raised the processor and graphics-card specifications. The studio was explicit that the playtest had not been optimised. The October 8 listing retains 16 GB but omits the newer CPU and GPU fields.
Upscaling and Frame Generation
The demo build is the only public source for which upscaling technologies the game supports, and it is a demo-build fact rather than a launch commitment. Its second hotfix, in June 2026, restored and extended support:
Technology | Status in the demo build |
|---|---|
Nvidia upscaling and its accompanying technologies | Enabled for supported cards in hotfix 1.02 |
Intel upscaling | Enabled for supported cards in hotfix 1.02 |
AMD frame generation and low-latency technology | Gated behind a compatibility check so it is only usable on supported cards |
Ray tracing | Switched off in hotfix 1.01 with a fix stated to be in progress |
The studio also noted a limitation of the engine: enabling frame generation required restarting the game. Separately it asked players reporting poor performance on capable hardware to update their graphics drivers, having previously seen the problem tied to older drivers.
Console Features
Platform | Flags on the storefront listing |
|---|---|
Xbox Series X and S | Optimised for Series X and S, 4K capability, HDR capability, achievements, cloud saves, Xbox Play Anywhere, single-player |
PlayStation 5 | Controller vibration and trigger effects, both listed as optional |
PC | Single-player, achievements, cloud saves, full controller support including DualShock and DualSense pads, HDR, custom volume controls, subtitle options, stereo and surround sound, family sharing |
Controllers and Input
Input | Support on PC |
|---|---|
Xbox controllers | Full support |
PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 controllers | Supported, over a wired connection rather than Bluetooth |
Steam Input | Supported |
Keyboard and mouse | Supported. The storefront notes a gamepad is not required |
On PlayStation 5 the DualSense vibration function and trigger effects are both listed as supported, and both are marked optional. The PlayStation listing also flags the game as offline play only for a single player.
The keyboard defaults have a history. Hands-on accounts of the October 2025 playtest criticised blocking on Control and dodging on Alt, and in December 2025 the studio said it would revisit the default layout, make custom bindings save reliably between sessions, and suggested side mouse buttons as an alternative in the meantime. Remapping and multiple controller presets have been in the game since before the playtest.
Install Size: Two Misleading Numbers
Two figures circulate and neither is a published install size.
Figure | Why it is not the answer |
|---|---|
50 GB on the PC listing | It sits in the requirements block whose own note says the specification is subject to change for the final release. It is a provisional requirement, not an announced size |
A figure under a gigabyte in the console catalogue's package data | A placeholder for a package that has not been published yet. The matching install-size field reads zero |
As of September 13, 2026 no install size, download size or preload date has been announced for any platform.
Optimisation Work Still In Progress
After the demo the studio named performance as one of four areas it was working on before launch, specifically processor-side optimisation and reducing the cost of having many enemies on screen at once. In August 2026 it described the project as in its polishing phase. Any figures on this page should therefore be re-checked against the shipped build.
What Is Still Open
As of September 13, 2026, across the official store listing, the official site, the studio's Steam development posts and the console storefront listings, the studio has not published console resolution or frame-rate targets, has not announced a PlayStation 5 Pro enhancement, has not stated a download or install size for the console versions, and has not published a preload date. The PC listing also carries a notice that the game requires agreement to a third-party end-user licence agreement. The Editions and Availability page carries the commercial details.
