Revision 1

Tropico 7 is scheduled for release on January 28, 2027. It will launch on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, on Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, and day one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. A separate Special Edition is planned for Nintendo Switch 2. Publisher Kalypso Media opened digital pre-orders on October 20, 2026.

Release date history

When Kalypso announced the game on August 20, 2025, it gave only a 2026 window. The same "2026" wording appeared in the closed beta announcement of March 12, 2026, the gameplay teaser post of April 20, 2026 and the first version of the official FAQ on April 29, 2026.

The actual date was revealed in the first gameplay trailer on August 26, 2026. Kalypso's announcement for that trailer withheld the date from the opening text and only stated it near the bottom: January 28, 2027. Later posts and the FAQ (updated September 30, 2026) use the same date.

Platforms and storefronts

The Steam version is listed for Windows only, with no macOS or Linux support in the store data as of October 20, 2026. Steam lists single-player, Steam Achievements, full controller support, Steam Cloud, stats and Family Sharing.

Game Pass

Every platform announcement since August 2025 has said Tropico 7 will be available with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The later announcements tie this to the January 28, 2027 launch.

Nintendo Switch 2 Special Edition

The official FAQ, last updated September 30, 2026, already listed Nintendo Switch 2 among the platforms. The story trailer announcement of October 9, 2026 was the first Steam post to name the version, calling it the Tropico 7 Special Edition and saying that it features mouse controls for Joy-Con 2 controllers and GameChat functionality. The October 20, 2026 pre-order announcement repeats this description.

The release timing for this version is less clear than for the others. The FAQ, updated on September 30, 2026, lists Nintendo Switch 2 among the platforms for January 28, 2027. The October 9 and October 20 announcements give the January 28, 2027 date for PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5, then describe the Special Edition in a separate sentence without a date of its own. The Switch 2 version is also not among the platforms named for the October 20 digital pre-orders. As of October 21, 2026, Kalypso has not published a separate release date for the Special Edition.

Pre-orders and early access

Digital pre-orders opened on October 20, 2026 on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and Kalypso's own store), Xbox on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with a 10% discount. On PlayStation, the discount applies to PlayStation Plus members only. All pre-orders include the Supervillain outfit for El Presidente.

Players who pre-order the Deluxe Edition get access to the game 48 hours before the official launch. Prices and edition contents are covered on Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses.

Physical release

The April 2026 FAQ said there was no confirmed information on physical editions, and the version updated on September 30, 2026 still carried that answer. The October 20, 2026 announcement superseded it: the Tropico 7 Deluxe Edition will also be available on January 28, 2027 as a physical retail edition for selected platforms and territories. As of October 21, 2026, Kalypso has not named those platforms or territories.

Demo

A free demo is available on Steam. Its store listing gives a release date of October 19, 2026, and Kalypso promoted it as part of Steam Next Fest on October 20, 2026.

Age ratings

The April 29, 2026 FAQ listed both ESRB and PEGI as "TBD"; the ratings were added by the September 30 update.

Languages

The FAQ confirms 12 languages for the interface and subtitles: German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Voice over is available in German, English, Spanish and Simplified Chinese. Brazilian Portuguese is included only in the release version, not in the demo.
