Lara Croft is the sole playable character in Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis. Voiced by Alix Wilton Regan, she is the series' iconic British archaeologist and adventurer, brought to life in this reimagining with new performance capture work.
Alix Wilton Regan voices Lara in this title, taking over from Camilla Luddington, who voiced the character across the 2013 to 2018 Survivor trilogy. The same actress also voices Lara in the separately announced sibling game Tomb Raider: Catalyst, providing voice continuity across both newly revealed titles. Scott Amos, the Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics, has described the casting as bringing the right mix of "wit, charm, and charisma" together with "emotional depth and confidence" for modern Tomb Raider storytelling.
In her own remarks during the press tour around the reveal, Alix Wilton Regan has framed her approach with the phrase "no Laras left behind," noting that she has played the games and studied the prior portrayals to bring a performance that honors what came before while opening a new era. She has called this period of the franchise the start of a "Golden Age" for Tomb Raider.
The studio has described keeping a confident version of Lara Croft for the reimagining. Her detailed biography, age, and family background have not been laid out for the new version ahead of launch.
Lara is a highly capable adventurer who explores treacherous environments, solves puzzles, and fights lethal predators. Confirmed for this reimagining, she wields her iconic dual pistols along with other unlockable weapons, and uses acrobatic abilities to attack enemies. For traversal, she relies on her strength and agility together with a grappling hook to climb, leap, and swing across the environment. Beyond these confirmed abilities, her complete weapon roster and the full detail of her movement systems have not been laid out. Equipment and ability lists specific to the 1996 original are not confirmed for this reimagining unless restated for the new version.
Hands-on play has shown more of how she fights and moves. She fires her dual pistols with the right trigger and can aim with the left, rolls and cartwheels away from danger with the dodge button, and builds a Focus meter in combat that she can spend on a slow-motion gymnastic flip to keep shooting while evading. For traversal she leaps between ledges, swings from poles, fires a grappling hook across wide gaps, and dives into water to swim.

Two cosmetic outfits are tied to pre-orders and editions. The Survivor Outfit is the Standard Edition pre-order bonus, and the Parisian Fugitive Outfit comes with the Deluxe Edition. Both are early-unlock outfits available within the game itself. Lara’s default appearance keeps the confident, capable presentation the studio has described for the reimagining.
Lara's goal throughout Legacy of Atlantis is to locate and recover the scattered pieces of the Scion, an artifact of immeasurable power tied to the lost civilization of Atlantis. Her hunt takes her across four confirmed regions: the jungles of Peru, ancient ruins in Greece, the deserts of Egypt, and a mysterious Mediterranean island.
